Military expert on wireless at lunchtime was saying Starmer has got the balance right. Reported in Telegraph. Today Trump said he was too slow to agree. Apparently KS was worried about the legality of the according to the Don. But once other countries were attacked KS agreed to using bases to help defend those countries. Needless to say some people saying this was a U turn.

The guy implied rather heavily that KS refusal to just let the bases be used would have happened during the planning of the attacks, which would have just as The Don decided to criticise the Chagos deal.

Iran, Israel, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iraq, Cyprus.

US troops killed and planes crashed.

Civilian deaths mounting.

Going well isn’t it.

I’m sure there’s a clear end game though.

Can someone let Bertie know what happens in war 🤦🏻

Small reminder that approx 30k Iranian civilians were killed in a week by their current government for protesting 👍

Mate of mine works at a refinery in Saudi that got hit by a drone today and they've had to shut it all down

He's in Yorkshire though so he's fine

Sir Keir doesn’t have to send coffins draped in union jacks back to England.

He’s saving the lives of the soldiers our Monday Clubbers get all emotional about.

Just sayin’

Could all be bollocks, but a military expert on five live earlier was saying Iran probably has 5 ballistic missiles for every Patriot missile stationed in the gulf.

Lets hope the yanks have taken out enough of their munition silos to even this up a bit.

oh, and Iran has missiles capable of reaching London. And the only air defence we have against them is @royal white with his pea shooter.

Was watching a vid from a couple of US military reporters claiming to be 'ITK', who said the US would have no problem taking out their munition bases.....

If only they knew where they were..

That's a bit of an issue.

The comparative low numbers of interceptors was known about.

Another reason why action was needed now. Reportedly they were making around 100 ballistic types per month.

Fundamental reason why initial strikes were to destroy defensive missile systems together with ballistic missile systems.

Sadly, our coward wouldn't help, then conveniently changes his mind when missiles start hitting neighbouring states. Something which was also expected to happen- simply part of the regime's play book.

RAF Akrotiri apparently has virtually no air defence missile systems on it, and we have few surface to air missile carrying naval vessels available, and none sent to provide cover just in case.

It'll all be right though, our lawyer will just negotiate an agreement that the terrorists will simply shake on and abide by.

History will not look favourably on our PM.

Do you not think they did know their locations. At least largely?

Part of the months long plan development.

Many are dug into caves.

Launchers appear, shoot and return.

They have been degraded incredibly quickly, but there simply isn't enough firepower to remove all of it at once.

Several thousand ballistic missiles alone, with many more drones.

Takes time.

I'm sure they know where some of them are, yes.. But by all accounts, they don't know how many there are

That said, in my un-expert option. I'm not sure their infrastructure will be as plenty, or as sophisticated as what some claim..

I'm basing that on absolutely nothing by the way

We haven't even got trains capable of reaching London.

So you want our PM to send British troops into a potentially illegal war, just because Donald Trump says so? Jesus wept.

He wanted those two dicks who are in prison over there rescued by the SAS the other week. Bonkers.

British citizens illegally held by a tyrannical regime.

Why not, when there is the biggest military build up in the region, meaning the place is about to go to ratshit.

Stupid to go in the first place of course, but doesn't justify their incarceration.

Wouldn't expect our PM to give a fuck like.

He'd rather ignore reality, and pander to the wets.

I'm sure they don't- always just estimates based on intelligence.

In a way the numbers aren't the key factor.

Destroy the launchers and it doesn't matter.

There you go again. There are more than two options for any scenario you know.

Clearly “these things happen in war”. Even I know that.

My point re the US/Israeli action was whether it was really the best thing to do and was this really the best time to do it.

Anyway, we’ll all just have to watch and hope for the best outcome (ie democratic regime in Iran as quickly as possible with as few civilian/allied casualties as possible.

Surely if he panders to the wets then he would be trying to get them released?

They did nothing wrong, it's not nice in prison in Iran, they were just taking photos

They ignored advice to go there and got nicked. What is wet about saying fuck them?

So when would have been a better time? When they had killed 40-50k protestors? When they had developed nuclear weapons?

The FCDO have recommended no travel to Iran for quite some time and anyone going there does so at their own risk

Personally, I don't think anyone should have a right to expect assistance from the state if they wilfully ignore its advice
