Which is why I'm worried that they've (USA) gone into this because theyve started to get drunk on the idea of their own power projection. We know how self-aware they are about memes, shit posting and the power of social media etc... and I genuinely think one of their prime motivators is "fuck around, find out". Nothing more, nothing less. "Well we took Maduro out of Venezuela, and that was an inconsequential piece of piss...." Quote

It's interesting that Trump curiously made no mention of encouraging the Iranian protestors to rise up today, and I think Hegseth went even further in stating the strikes are not about regime change Someone must've had a word Quote

No idea if that is true though. Getting rid of the evil head shed is obviously good but if there's no coherent plan then maybe not so much. Plus it would seem contingency plans within Iran are for lower officers to fire at will which makes it more difficult to contain. Fingers crossed those F22's locate plenty more fire locations and the rest can clear them up sharpish. Tactically and hardware wise I'm not concerned (though for the first time I can ever remember they're talking about US munition stocks potentially running out). They can go scud hunting, or the equivalent, till the cows come home, lay waste to everything theyve got, its the geopolitical side of it thats the issue. I dont say it lightly but this is the first time I've ever had an almost existential worry about a foreign conflict. Quote

I think that is a little premature at the moment. I have also read that this plays really badly for Russia in that their allies in Syria, Venezuela and now Iran have been seriously curtailed. The world sees absolutely nothing from Moscow in any kind of support for their so called partners. Quote

Let's hope China and/or India don't get their balls tickled. All it takes is one nutter to do a Gavrilo Princip. Quote

The India - UK and India - EU trade deals have seen them soften their solidarity with Russia recently. Another bit of grown up work done by the adults on this side of the Atlantic. The India - EU one could actually be the mother of all deals. Potentially 25% of the Worlds GDP and 30% of Global trade. India won’t throw that away for a bit of fossil fuel and some spare kalashnikov’s Quote

It is very funny, the stuff that compulsive bullshitters come out with. Many years ago, a bloke in my local swore blind he was a Marine and had shot an IRA terrorist in a pub in Preston in the 90's, but it was all covered up so the public wouldn't panic. Turned out he was a dog trainer in the Navy for a few months before being discharged for being a drug addict. Superb entertainment, but I wouldn't trust him to look after 50p.
