Just left Euston. Absolute all time away day. Going forward first half was outstanding, should have been 4 up. Second half was proper steel. @Steejay @radcliffe white @marple whites

  • One thing that has been common through this run has been the reintroduction of Forino. Whatever formation we play he is a must in most games at this level, but especially against these lesser tea

Definite signs of improvement going forward in the first half even though our finishing is still an issue, and we defended well second half despite some flaky moments and an inability to keep hold of it when we knocked it away which messed up our shape, but overall it’s promising.

Time to regroup now, a few days rest and we’ll see what the squad looks like on Monday night - hopefully strong enough to beat the teams behind us vying for promotion. That said, I think we have to win every game to get promoted automatically.

100 points just to get 2nd place??

Forino is the key. Johnston and Toal as a pair are alright without being totally convincing, Forino in the middle of them is making them both better. We've some more potent teams to play in the weeks to come but, at the moment, we don't look like conceding in games.

We need to win by more than one goal to make an inroad into the goal difference

I'll be there but having my usual mare with on line ticketing... so probably be in the Lincoln St Andrews Stand

Cissoko is one of our weakest kickers. Seems to close his foot at impact. Hooding the club for our golfers. 3 other examples today, McAtee shot, pass to the goalie and apters sorry attempt in the first half. And Burstow shot in the 2nd half. For so many of our pros to be weak in this area, probably speaks volumes of the standard that we're at. Let's hope our new striker is good at kicking the ball properly. It may be a confidence thing but it's a consistent trait

Randall was/is another, probably wouldn't reach from the penalty spot.  Kachunga was great at rolling it to the keeper from 15 yards, not sure I ever saw Vic hit a proper shot.  Collins probably the best of recent years of the strikers.  Morley, Dempsey and Sheehan reasonable without being Frandsen or Sneekes levels.

But its little to do with being as low as L1.  Plenty goals are scored from outside the box in the bottom two divisions every week, Huddersfield scored from the halfway line in midweek.

Two times that stick in my mind when Forino and Johnston were paired together as CBs in a back 4 - Burton and Northampton away! 😩

Think we have to be careful making sweeping statements on a game to game basis.

Seen similar with Tutu. When he plays well we shouldn’t be lauding him as needing to start every game. When he’s not so good, like today, we shouldn’t be saying we don’t want to see him at FB again.

L1 players are pretty inconsistent, ours included.

Although our defensive record suggests we are getting it right a lot more than we are getting it wrong.

Agreed.  And that weren't many votes for Forino during the Swindon inquest!

I'm still trying to work out how we managed to win today after committing the cardinal sin of not sticking with a winning team from Tuesday.  Crazy to sell Morley surely.

18 different outfield players have started these last 4 wins.  Maybe its possible to change the starting line up and still get a performance?

The last 4 wins reflect well on Dalby (started them all) and Forino, EE and McAtee who started 3, those 4 players have hardly started any games this season between them and they've all now contributed well to wins.

So if we're 1-0 up with 10 minutes to go, we need to take off a defender and put on another striker?

I think I'd manage to suppress my disappointment if our late pressure fails to result in another couple of goals and the ref blows the whistle a bit early!

A fair summary

My point is it"s not just points... we need to get more goals, today was an example where we realy need to make it count.

We are 8 goals behind Lincoln, one goal brings it down to 6 but two brings it down to 4 and so on.

Of course I'll take the win away from home but GD could be the decider

Mad to think that the automatics could be off the cards this early if they win the game in hand and we fail to beat them. Especially given all the momentum we now have with improved form and signings.

Just as important we beat Barnsley next week. Hopefully an improved Plymouth can get at least a point off Lincoln.

Their game in hand is against Northampton at home fwiw😐 Ultimately those dropped points away from home could come back to bite.

I'd still feel positive with this squad going into the playoffs.

We are 6 behind having played 1 game more.

So we have to win 2, whilst they lose 3. If that happens the GD closes by at least 5.

Of course would be brilliant to batter someone but if we keep winning and catch Lincoln you have to think the GD will look after itself.

My glass half full look on it is of a similar nature, not overly taking notice of Cardiff and Lincoln, more taking comfort for the distance we're putting between us and 7th.

If that's the way it stays but we go into the play offs in decent form and with quite a few good but relatively low mileage players in the squad I'd be optimistic

Can't take my eyes off Cardiff and Lincoln 😀

That has to be aim.

It's a big ask though

Really pleasing to have kept 3 clean sheets in a row away from home. Granted the home sides we've played have struggled scoring with regularity but this little run is building some positive momentum.

It's been a tough couple of months with games coming thick and fast. Not surprising that some performances were, in my opinion, dull and we looked leggy. Having said that I thought the first half against Wimbledon was excellent. One of our best 45 minutes for a long time. Concerning that we let them get back into the game in the second half but at least it didn't cost us. On the whole, and given the busy Christmas and January period, I'm happier than I was. A slight upturn in recent performances is promising and the new additions look like good business.

Weird game, some awful individual performances but its a team game so i suppose as a team we got through it.

Individually all the defenders had poor games but as a team a clean sheet speaks volumes, well done.

Yeah but they wanted to hurry up making their choices in Galloway’s this morning

Took us 3 hours to get home from Wigan because we were in the Swan drinking with some Latics fans who absolutely fed it to our superiority complex. Was ace, actually. Just fed it to the whole day.

Yon mon can post it on Cockney Latic if he fancies taking a breath.

No 3rd unless Lincoln and Cardiff implode 🤣

I'd want some more evidence of goalscoring potential against top 6 teams first.

We're a 1 goal a game team last 15 games or so, the vast majority against teams that won't finish in the top 10.

It will be interesting to see how potent we look against Barnsley and Lincoln, an upgrade on the standard of opponent of recent games.

Or more likely, it won't come down to goal difference.  Last year nobody above 11th and 12th were separated by GD and most others by at least 2 points, never mind 1.  Wrexham promoted by 5, Orient in the play offs by 3.

Was with these lads in a pub near euston and a proper good sing song erupted

A good 3 points and a good day out.    Not a day to decipher performances,  just enjoy the 2 points.

Ps.  Never in my days have i seen so many stewards plus the best dressed steward boss ever

I think it’s easy, GJ to drop out. His passing and heading is woeful, anywhere will do. Also never to far away from a major fuck up

He IS shagging your wife, isn't he.

This is obsessive.
