  • Sam Dalby. The man was possessed today, one of the best striker performances I’ve seen for us in ages. Hold up play, link up play, winning duels, getting us up the pitch, threat from set pieces/crosse

I think there should be some mention of the Grade A shithousery by the WSL faithful when we were under the pump at the death. Barnsley rush the spare ball to their long throw specialist, he’s winding

That’s kind of the point. It’s no coincidence that Dalby’s renaissance has coincided with McAtee’s upturn in form. It’s almost as if two players with differing styles can actually complement each othe

Couldn't get a ticket for that.  Ridiculous that we were limited to 2k when a 3rd of the ground was empty.

Same here and didn’t we limit them to 2000 at the return leg?

it really annoys me that part of their stand down the side has been shut for years

it just looks shit

whatever the issue is, sort it and open it

Yeah but we filled the rest of the ground. The fact they put us in the 5k capacity stand and just blocked sales of the rest is ridiculous.

The FA/EFL should step in on nonsense like that

I agree that it does football a disservice and spoils the spectacle for neutrals (the paying Sky TV viewers) and the EFL shouldn't agree to their "product" being spoiled unnecessarily.

But for balance if we play Bradford or Stockport in the play offs and we don't sell more than 23k in our end especially if it's the 1st leg on a Thursday night, would we be happy to give them 5k tickets and have them dominating the atmosphere?  Probably not.  So it'd probably be a lot of empty seats in South Stand with the away team asking for more tickets.

If we're in play offs there's no away end with more than about 1,500 capacity so we certainly won't be getting a Barnsley situation again.

I'm sure the away allocations were restricted by EFL.

All play off clubs had similar small allocations.

No the rule is you have to give a minimum of 2k fans or certain %. So each club is doing this as routine pretty much now to reduce any away atmosphere advantage.

Good point re Stockport especially . Could get a situation where we sell the 1k allocation and would I be happy to give them much more than the 2k....

On balance I think I would as the atmosphere will be better in general.

Bradford should be giving us a similar amount with similar sized stadium

Sod the atmosphere, we just want to win.

Is that not the rule anyway?

Must be the split in revenue that promts clubs to do it or everyone would just give minimal allocations all the time?

Barnsley didn't wake up and think we will only give Bolton 2k when they normally give us 4k.

Loads of other clubs had the same issues with small allocations, I'd hazard a guess the gate receipts are split differently.

And now tomorrow, Barnsley cant get anywhere near selling 2000 !

Usually it's 95/5% to the home/away team, i believe it's split evenly between the teams in the playoffs

It just strikes me as bonkers when clubs often plead poverty yet pass up on the chance of an extra 80-100k in case their fans get out shouted.

This doesn’t surprise me to be fair. After a few years of being up there, they’re going backwards, in the middle of a rut in the season, just sold their best player, not won in 6 aways and heading to a place they’ve visited a lot in recent years.

Proper recipe for apathy

Bwfc 2

Barnsley 0....

Another clean sheet...

Onwards & Upwards....

Getting promoted would yield far more than that though.

That's the gamble. Guaranteed amount now, or chance of much bigger amount later.

Their home match against Northampton saw 8000 odd attend.

Yes Bradford would have to give us 2k and so would Huddersfield, so it could be worse eg Stockport, Lincoln, Luton.

I think I agree with @Whitesince63 that we wouldn't want to give them an advantage.  The ideal opponents in play offs from an away allocation viewpoint would be teams with a big ground/away end that don't fill it - PNE, Blackburn Wigan, where each team could agree to around 4k away tickets.

Barnsley would have fallen into that category but I suspect they were never selling that number for an evening match and didn't want us having the advantage.

I think that's the point. The revenue isn't there for the play offs hence they do it.

Its nowhere near £100k though.  Tickets for both legs last time were £20 adults so taking the various concessions into account probably £15 average.  So an extra 2k fans makes about £30k.  Even without taking off the EFL cut, its £15k per club.  Most of it probably eaten up by extra stewards, police etc.

Fair enough.  They're still c*nts though!

Barnsley didn’t wanna give us 5k as they knew they wouldn’t follow in similar numbers. Thus giving us an advantage. It was as simple a decision as that

A bit short sighted as there is a huge area of middle ground there which they could’ve potentially agreed on and sold..
