if only we "owned" Calais.

Money we’re paying the French we probably owed it

Give over, that's got to be a parody/piss take.

If not, then he needs stabbing to death and chucking in the sea.

Used to own it up to the 1580s ish

This is good news. I think, some may disagree. Well done the Labour Government. Still a long way to go to remove the hundreds of thousands of ‘unauthorised’ ‘illegal’ ‘irregular’ migrants though.

The headline figures aren’t all they seem by the way. 😉

Like you say, of itself, all good.

No doubt when the figures are drilled into there will be discrepancies. Earlier numbers were fudged as a good number were "paid" to go.

Not necessarily something that should be automatically frowned upon, but isn't quite in keeping with the generalised statement.

As with so much modern politics; the smoke and mirrors is so frustrating.

They all pontificate over their own excellence, whilst the reality "on the ground" is so different.

Fucked up country.

Many of those who have left, went voluntarily, hence my headline jibe. It seems Shabana Mahmood is also looking at a Rwanda style scheme. Maybe even Rwanda.

Really? If so it would go the same way as the last effort. Utterly stupid idea and a complete waste of time, money and effort for all concerned.

It’s clear we need to find another country for us to send them to. Would you agree with that?

They made a shed load of cash out of the original deal for doing nothing

We were expected to take some of theirs in return

Only a plank and Rwanda thought it a good deal

And the deal was a certain amount

Can't remember what but say 1000 got sent there

The media would have been all over it saying how it's achieved it's goal

Then the smugglers would keep sending them over saying you ain't going to Rwanda
