Granted, it’s a strange “first game of the season” And I get it’s not as important as next Saturday. But surely we are not at the stage of dismissing the league cup as a glorified friendly? It would

Its just... a really, really good piss up, Sheffield. Genuinely top class.

Or another way to look at it. Today’s game has no relevance on what we want this season. I’ll say it. Glad we are out. Shit tourno

Don't know if Watson plays holding midfield, looks unlikely Erhahon will be fit. Another option would be Stephenson who has definitely played there - with either Larra or Christie filling in at right back.

Other option is Sheehan and rodregues in midfield like Plymouth away and put can’t believe I am saying this Mctee playing

Bannan had tried that ball a few mins earlier, didn't quite come off but well worth another go down the side of Forino, no pace

Qué the melt down

Surely we can't be arsed, looked the better side with 11 men, and this season the less games the better.

To be honest I'm not bothered in the slightest, even though I don't like seeing us lose, but there will be a fair bit of screaching on social media

Red card screwed us. Now they're playing like it's their cup final and we look lost.

Totally gone to pot following the red

Well that was silly, hope it doesn't ban him from league games.

I hope it does. Given a (barely deserved) chance to start and he does that.

What did Simons get sent off for?

We simply need new signings

Big week ahead on that front whilst also preparing for the weekend.

Be nice to just focus on the league for a change until the FA cup comes along

Next week and until we get reinforcements in I wouldn't be bothered if we played Conway in front of Famewo and Larry in front of Stephenson, keep it solid and structured. Any points we get, by hook or by crook are gold dust this month

Or September!

Scary fixture list in September even if we'd signed every player we think we need to make us competitive.

I'm a very big Stephenson fan from what I've seen this preseason.

Less sure about Watson.

Harsh from just a few minutes but there's no obvious urgency.

Having to send Bonham up, well done Simons, well done

He was being pulled back and punched the guy in the stomach. Three match ban to follow for violent conduct. Idiot

McAtee starting the season shitting out of tackles. Fucking ace that bloke

well we can at least say we lost because of one person rather than we lost 11 vs 11, but we were toothless 1st half despite getting into good situations, one mans action mean no cup run, not that we had any chance of winning the thing, but a little bit of mystery being in the hat for the next round would have been nice, but nope someones mind in that split second made him punch another.

Nobody really looking champ quality. Bannans legs have gone

Still the best player on the pitch in the 2nd half from what I saw, thankfully the game isn't all about running around.

Que?

If games are there to be won, I want us to win them, its a good thing. That one was there for the taking and we made a bollocks of it. We should have been 2 up well before Simons lunacy.

SS might, however, see it all as an advert for how urgently the cavalry is needed. Going into next week with what we've put out there today is a parlous state to be in.
