NAC Breda (H)

Don’t know if their fans will travel in numbers for this, but this was at Norwich last season. Brilliant.

Anyone told them the fan march to the ground from the town centre is 6 miles? That's a lot of side to side bouncing.

They mist a few sitters though should of scored 3 and hit under side of the bar

That’s true and Bonham made a couple of good saves as well whilst I don’t recall their keeper doing anything in the whole game other than pick the ball out of his net. I’m worried now because I don’t believe any combination of what we have will be good enough against Wednesday let alone Nob End. Schuey may come up with something special but I’ve seen nothing from those he’s brought in so far that leads me to think they’re an improvement on what he’s let go in Tutu, Johnston and Ibby.. Early days of course but we need some quality in soon or I fear for us.

Decent defensive performance but showing yet again how lacking we are up top. Can’t go into the season with this attack.

I think Davies is better than Johnston was never impressed with him to weak not sure about the rest but it is championship rather than league one tutu pace would of helped

This time last year we had Cogley RB and Cissoko falling over his own feet. Perceptions maybe shaped by one or two enhancing their reputation towards the end of the season. Stephenson, Famewo and Davies look decent additions / improvements, and still plenty time for the likes of Dong to find his feet.

And yes, we do need more quality, but those signings are still to come.

We'll be reet.

Oh, and the Spaniards supposedly a good un

Stephenson can put a foot in but its stretching it to say he's an improvement on Cogley or Tutu. He might well be, but no evidence so far. No quality going forward yet, less pace than those 2 and not stronger or taller. He clearly has a good attitude and tenacity, but its all very L1.

Last week I was encouraged that we played higher standard opposition and didn't look out of place. Less encouraging today, very few flowing moves and Sheehan well off the pace unusually. The wide areas are a real problem going forward, Gale was awful and nothing down the right.

Forino and Davies played well, Famewo solid but nothing going forward, which is a theme.

Gayle is our best winger at present

Our issues laid bare. Was nowhere near our best winger in L1

I think right now, having just been promoted, I'd rather have a LB that can defend as opposed to one that struggles defensively

The way it is at the minute I would play Conway on the wing and he would give a bit of cover defensively

I agree. Just a comment about his style of play, along with Stephenson. They are defenders, not overlapping full backs.

We are more solid, we have less going forward, is the theme.

Not sure you are right about that Stephenson as played as a wing back though at previous clubs

Not sure where/what you were watching.

Was only on 10 mins and made 2 great overlapping runs. The 1st Instead of Warren giving him the return ball Warren contrived to lose on the half way line leaving them to counter with Larra in their half. The 2nd he got the return ball ran 40 yds and then passed it across the 6yd box to no avail. Looked promising going forward.

Fair comment the defenders I’d agree with especially Stephenson and Davies but whilst I accept it’s too early to make hard judgements on any of them unless there’s a massive improvement in the next two weeks I think we’re going to struggle. Let’s hope the potential of our young signings comes out sooner rather than later but so far I’ve just been somewhat underwhelmed.

I thought he had a good first 45 but was pretty awful after that.

Another who puts physical and athletic attributes above technical ability. Tutu was very average League One, while Cogley is League Two. The pair of them would have been dreadful in the Championship.

Your definitely right about Cogley the guy was poor . Tutu not sure let’s see were he turns up and what he does .

Has for athleticism thats what the modern game is about when you move up the levels it’s more important than its ever been
