With the announcment last week that Arsenal are borrowing money on advance ticket sales, today Manure increase their debt to ??660m to reduce their annual interest payments to ??62m a year. We have Chelski bank-rolled by an individual and Liverpool having to find ??160m in the next 2 weeks for their new stadium, when will football in this country collapse in on itself?

Are we heading for a soccer style dotcom boom and bust? There is only so much money to go around. And.... if the top clubs go can the Premier League and the FA survive? Will we be strong enough financially to then become a to 5 club?

The bubble burst at the end of last season.

Season ticket sales are down everywhere as negative football sweeps the country.

Believe me, in 10 years time Sky will be pouring all their dosh into poker ??? football will be relegated to Sky Sports Xtra or worse, Bravo!

Good point.

There is the slimmest of chances this may happen, but I can't see it. If it did, solvent clubs would survive but what would be the point without the big names around? If someone like Reading were left in a footballing wilderness, who would give a toss? (apart from Reading fans of course).

Fact is, as long as the fanbases these clubs have are there, they will be continually bankrolled. They would only truly struggle if the fans walked away and stopped subscribing to Sky.

I would love to see Manyoo have to sell their ground to Netto, but it just won't happen.

You say it can't happen? Brave call.

What happens when Iamadick decides horse racing is more fun than football? Or the Glazer brothers realise that there's no real money to be made and jet off to play with a rugby league side in Australia? Arse are in real danger of pricing supporters out of their season tickets - who wants to pay ??1000 per year to spend 2 hours after every games waiting for a train at Finsbury Park?

Sky are very close to holding the Premiership to ransom. They let some rights go this year to see how much money other than there's is knocking around. Now they know it's not much........

Our debts have fallen, while bigger clubs are risking it more and more. MUPLC would never go bust, they still have millions of fans worldwide and some Saudi would be in like a flash if the Glazers screwed up their money-making scheme.

Our chairman has looked after the purse strings (he's been slagged for it, though) and our manager is the best we could possible get (and he still gets slagged - some Bolton fans really are clueless).

Look at Leeds if you've moaned about our lack of spending, they're a bigger club than us & it took Ken Bates and a BIG price rise in tickets to steady the ship.

City are also ??60m in debt................I'd love it if they went down and got into deeper trouble, love it :D

Sad thing about it all is, the chairman/board/managers are playing around with fans money & if it goes tits up - the fans have to fork out when the prices go up [-X

so you would rather look at a pack of cards for 90 minutes than a game of football, that just about sums it up.

Personally I hate poker, anyone who plays it needs to get a life. People who watch it are even worse.

But I can???t deny it is popular, whereas soccer is on a downward spiral.

In 10 years time Gary Lineker will be hosting Hand of the Day and everyone will be in the pub on a Sunday afternoon watching Ford Super Sunday Poker Invitation.

Right, that's it. The Fat Sam comments annoy me due to their rudeness, but calling football soccer is just plain ignorant and shows your distinct lack of knowledge of the game this forum seems is dedicated to! ](*,)

How highly you speak of the team you support! You really must decide; Bolton supporter or not?

By the way, soccer is NOT the same as football. Soccer is a cheap American alternative.
