It seems to be getting harder and harder to get cheap train travel to London away games.

Getting to speak to someone at virgin is like pulling teeth and when you do get through, the cheaper seats have never been released.

Anyone got any ideas / ways round it ?

In the old days the Travel Club bus was the cheapest, easiest way to get to London. You got on at Burnden and had the choice of getting off at Farnworth,Burnden or the town centre.

The last time i used it, for the semi final at Villa there was only the option of getting on and off at Horwich.

Another way in which following BWFC isnt as good as it was.But i would imagine it would still be less than ??25.

if the club ran a pick up from Moor Lane then i'm sure more people would go!

Think it was ??22 for the London games last season. No drinking on board but plenty of time for a bevy once you get there. You get parked close to the ground as well. There's a discount if you join the travel club, which is a fiver, I think.

Do they provide the Werthers, or do you have to bring your own?
Don't be a prick all your life. Have a day off now and then.

took just 3 minutes....................I've caught a whopper :D

Always found the travel club alright, if all you are expecting is cheap reliable travel to the game. Plus you used to get offered a rub-off every week from Dave Higson  :-k

That's a scratch-card of course.

The travel club is awful, I can remember going to Liverpool away a few years ago on New Years day.....some nosey bint decided that she was going be a complete tit and get on her high horse about a couple celebratory 'bring in the new year' beers. Started mouthing off about drunken hooligans, pompus idiot!

I'll never travel that way again!

Travel club was good when you were a young nipper, but it's inflexible, slow and you can't drink !! (although had 2 litres of vodka and coke numerous times)

It's all about knitted dolls on the front window these days !!

You only need to look at the number of coaches we take to prove it is NOT the best way to travel.

Plus the fact that living in Stockport, it makes no sense to go to the reebok to then go to London.

I've been checking the Virgin website for the last month and could only get a cheap single from Charlton back to Bristol initially. Last week cheap singles to Charlton became available. So I've ended up paying ??15.50 out ??10.50 back.

I know it's not Bolton/Manchester/North west but always worth re-checking

Cheers H - I will keep checking !!

marple, as i posted, the two single option was available for charlton

but that was last week, and now it's gone

12.50 each way

was still available yesterday for the homeward journey
