Strangest Place You've Every Been To...

Featured Replies

That well travelled thread got me thinking. Where are the oddest countries you have been to off these shores? My top five would be:

Syria

Lebanon

Myanmar

Albania

Nicaragua

Derby

bishop aukland..

you have to see it to believe it..

Burnley trumps the lot,end of thread :::::::lol:::::::

I live there (for the next month 'til I move back to dumfriesshire)

Carlisle makes deliverance look like a chick flick

full of wierd wierd racists

lovel countryside around it but full of inbreds

Ibstock

Darlington, rough as hell and the worst boozer I have ever, and I mean 'ever' been in. I think Zozzy was there too.

Port Hedland (northern part of WA - iron ore exporting town).

The iron ore fines gets into peoples brains and turns em all into zoons. Example - Had a high ranking yank visiting a few years back and went up there for business reasons. First neet, took him off to the local pub (Port Hedland Hotel). A boxing ring in the open with a number of portakabins around it which serve as bars. Full of notrights and worse. I could write a fooking essay on this one but the major points:-

1) A maze of trimmed privets is the entrance. Half way in, there's a bloke with a Galah (pink and grey parrot) on his shoulder; bottle of beer in hand - howling at the full moon.

2) Every male in the place offered a BJ 'to the end' for a beer by a toothless aboriginal grandmother (the yanks face was classic :::::::lol::::::: ).

3) Bloke diving head first into the urinal.

Port Hedland is a place I avoid at all costs now.

Went to France a few years ago, stayed in Limoges, drove to a little village about 5 miles away and it was just like Wicker Man and Village of the Damned rolled into one, everybody just stared at you and didn't speak, all the kids had blonde hair and blue eyes, I thought we were their next meal, it was feckin scary

Rottnest Island- beautifully stunning, but inhabited by rat-rabbit hybrids

Church Inn Farnworth- same creatures on two legs... the fruit machine paid out in groats

Rovaniemi in North Finland - total inbreds, very wierd place. And feckin cold too.

berwick upon tweed

feckin orrible

Peterhead.

Thursday night was like the wild west when all the oil lads and fishermen went out on the lash.

Remember being woken up at 3 am by a big bloke outside my window. He ripped his shirt off, screamed "come on then you bastards" and launched himself at 5 coppers.

When you went in town on Friday for your dinner, every other bloke had a black eye.

It was fun up there.

FRANCE

once went to hartlepool or was it darlington for a night game.

in the pub there was a horse , a proper live horse just by the bar.

3 locals just sat there having a pint.

when i played football on a sunday we played at holmewood one week after playing at holmefirth the week before.

not the strangest places but the biggest contrast, Holmewood is where they filmed rite sue and bob too, Holmefirth is were they filmed last of the summer wine.

Gourock in Scotland

Crawley.

Actually, Isle of Sheppy has to be top - just a very odd place.

Isle of Wight - everyone is about 80 who lives there. In fact, people are so old you start to wonder whether or not you're in some kind of Shaun Of The Dead dream.

Holyhead - shithole.

Magaluf - ditto

Dove Holes.

When the end of the world comes, that's what it'll look like.

For a place only notable for being on the A6 between Stockport and Buxton, this place doesn't half get some stick.

And rightly so!
