Heidur was awesome at Watford

No he wasn't, he was OK, but hardly awesome

Can everyone stop using the word "awesome", please?

It's getting like an American Teen Movie script on here. What's up with saying shit hot, belting or cracking?

What's up with saying shit hot, belting or cracking?

or even calming it down when we are talking about average players................and using words such as decent, reliable or "pretty good"

now I know youtube montages can often mislead and can basically make any player look half decent

but when you use footage from pro ev you start to wonder how good someone actually is

Whilst most of us see ?2m as an obscene amount of money to spend on a player, I actually think that this is a very good bit of business given current market values. I'd take Heidur over Mido, Nugent and Fulham's Kamara even at the same prices let alone for a third of what they cost. Heidur was awesome at Watford and I''d like to hope that little Sam can get him back to that player.

However with him, McCann and Davies in the squad I'm confident we won't be winning the fair play league this season.

Helguson couldn't lace Nugent's boots.

Helguson couldn't lace Nugent's boots.

Well we'll see won't we? Nugent's lower league record:

Bury - 18 goals from 88 apperances

Preston - 33 goals from 94 appearances

You can't beat Wanderers fans for a bit of optimism! How about Helguson was useless at Watford, pathetic at Fulham and is only likely to be worse with us. Everyone happy now? At ease people.

Let's see how this season goes. Give me a seasoned Premier league player any day - especially considering the relative fees. In my eyes, HH is a very sound signing. Becoming more and more optimistic about the coming season.

Just spoke to Alf Hartigan off here and he said if you view him as a replacement for Pedersen then it is another step forward. I'll take that one.

Alf is shit at left back

Have you ever seen him play?

Having looked at a couple of messageboards regarding Fulham fans perspective on Helguson, from when he was being linked to Championship sides, they don't feel he is good enough for the top flight, although he "tries hard".

However, I'm not one for reading into what fans of other clubs think until I've seen them don the white shirt on a few occasions.

Although I remember him having a great season in his final year at Watford, I still wasn't convinced when Fulham signed him that he would hit as many as ten goals in the Prem, as I always saw him as quite a strange player regarding form, despite him being one of the leading scorers in is last season in the fizzy pop league.

This was also the view of turnip head, who signed him stating how good a signing he would turn out to be. He would later contradict himself whilst commentating on an FA Cup match between Chelsea and his old club Watford, by talking of how he probably wouldn't make it in the Prem.

Since then he has impressed me whenever I've seen him, so I'm more than happy to see him get a chance. Unless I dreamt it, I'm sure I've read comments from Heidur regarding the move, and he sounded overjoyed to be signing for a club like ours.

aye, probably because before we came out of nowhere he'd been linked with a move to

Watford

Charlton

West Brom

agree with most 'normal posters' that it is a sound back up signing.

in this day and age ?2m for a established Premier League player is good business.

as someone else mentioned earlier with the signings Lsl has made, O'Brien coming back and Nobbys

apparent return to form we will have a nice little squad going :good:

This is true. Hopefully Heidur will cease what may be his final opportunity to show his ability at top flight level though.

And we could have spent a similar fee on a different player:

I know who I'd rather have. The world's gone mad.

F*ck me. Mad is an understatement.

He's friggin' useless.

I'd rather have kept Pedders and saved the money to buy a top draw player. We have enough players now, it's time add a bit more quality.

Richardson for ?5m

Seriously?! Sunderland actually paid FIVE MILLION QUID for Richardson?! Fergie would make a great used car salesman!

maybe we don't need to save the money and this all falls within the budget

am sure lee will not have jeopardised the signing of any top draw players by signing helguson

assuming he's got his eye on some top drawer players

this move to me suggests two things

1 - we have a stronger squad

2 - pg is more willing to back lee in the transfer market, even for squad fillers

I think Helguson is a good signing but at first I was very surpriwsed to hear the ?2 million fee. :pardon: But when you consider Sunderland have paid ?5 mill for Richardson, then ?2 mill ain't so bad

Also don't forget wages. Mido or a quality striker would want ?40k minimum per week in wages, whereas I would imagine Helguson is on 15-20k per week.

Not only does this save us ?1-?1.25m per year off the wage bill, but it stops other members of the squad using a signing to justify a pay increase.

whereas I would imagine Helguson is on 15-20k per week.

i very much doubt that

be surprised if over 10

idan tal was on 8k, if anybody wants to use that as a guide

Helguson couldn't lace Nugent's boots.

Nugent has a f?cking lot to prove - he's been hyped as much as a WHU academy player in the media.

so have we definately signed helguson?

so have we definately signed helguson?

Aye, I think so

It's on BBC etc
