August 20, 200718 yr Papa Bouba Diop says that he expects to leave Fulham before the end of the transfer window and he wants European football. Could he be a ready-made replacement for Faye?
August 20, 200718 yr I say keep Faye and buy Diop. Play them together as a centre midfield partnership.
August 20, 200718 yr aren't most of our summer signings deemed to be shite because they couldn't get games at teams that finished below us last season? and no, he couldn't anyway cost too much he was 5 million last window, and wages, i guess, would dwarf fayes offer?

We shouldn't be worrying about the wages. we've been doing things on the cheap for years. It's time to splash some cash because if we go down we won't be back for a long time

Price has now dropped to ?3M according to The Mirror.
August 20, 200718 yr I'd be pleased. Get bite in the midfield and someone that wants to play there. Yes, would prefer Faye but he's made his mind up to leave I guess o no hope there. Approach Diop
August 20, 200718 yr Author Apparently Diop is big mates with Diouf, so if Diouf wants to see us sign 'five quality players' in order to push for Europe again, maybe he could put a word in.
August 20, 200718 yr would definatley be a good signing to play in front of the back four if sammy has the brains to play him there
August 20, 200718 yr Author would definatley be a good signing to play in front of the back four if sammy has the brains to play him there I personally think that Diop is a much better player than Faye on his day.
August 20, 200718 yr I personally think that Diop is a much better player than Faye on his day. Although I haven't seen him play that much I have been very impressed with him everytime Iv'e watched him. He is very much like Faye but I would say he would probably score more goals. I would like to see him in and protecting the back four.
August 20, 200718 yr I think this would be a good signing!! He always looks good when Ive seen him play!
August 20, 200718 yr I personally think that Diop is a much better player than Faye on his day. I will agree with you on that
August 20, 200718 yr Faye's a monster, he's intimidating and can head and kick the ball 70 yards. However he's no a world-beater - he played in central defence in our drubbings at Anfield, Riverside, Old Trafford and White Hart Lane earlier this year. Diop has a little more quality and finesse for me. But let's face it, we've already signed 6 midfielders this summer. Fingers crossed though...
August 20, 200718 yr i cant see sammy buying ANOTHER midfielder unless one leaves. Campo? Nolan? Andranic?
August 21, 200718 yr Get Papa & Lubo in the team - what more bite could you need than two huge 6'5" blokes kicking lumps out of the opposition
August 21, 200718 yr Author We must be favourites to sign him if we want him. He wants to stay in the Prem and play in the CL or UEFA Cup. Can't see any of the top four being interested, so that leaves us, Everton and Spurs. Everton must be close to spending their budget by now and i wouldn't think that Spurs need a player like that, so that just leaves us! ?2M for Faye, ?3M for Diop, net spend of ?1M. Seems like good business to me!
August 21, 200718 yr I quite like Diop as a player, would be a good signing, provided he was played in the defensive holding midfield position.
August 21, 200718 yr As previously mentioned I have watched Fulham a fair few times in recent years as a work thing. Whilst Diop is a better player then Faye there are better midfielders at the club already. Get a decent centre half and right back or a coach who can instill so order at the back.

Seems like good business to me! this is where our problems begin alot of the time, from what we think is the best way forward no offence trotter58 but I get the feeling if we don't sign him you'll be on at the board for not signing what would obviously be the player to sort our problems out, lack ambition etc etc i doubt very much we're the only club in the running for him i'd be happy to sign him, but I doubt we will

Seems like good business to me! The key thing is trotter is that your guessing regarding every point in that post. The chances are we won't sign him. However that isn't reason enough IMO to start having a pop at the board. Diop won't be on cheap terms at Fulham, clearly other parties will be interested and we don't even know if Sammy rates the lad or is even on the look out for a player of his type. Given that in his 3 games this season he wasn't employed a defensive midfielder.
August 21, 200718 yr Would be a superb signing for you if you could get him. Good player, the type of player West Ham need. A few months ago I wanted him or Appiah. Seems Curbs wants neither Still, looks as though we're getting Giles Barnes though
August 21, 200718 yr It seems to have gone a bit quiet on the Gudjohnsen front, Yossi. Is that dead in the water now, or what?
