Might not have been Div 4, but i remember us all singing we want Charile Wright say we want Charlie Wright.

 

The lads i remember from Div 4 who post on here who i have seen/met since coming on here are.I know there will be more.

I was at that as a 15 yr old an am sure I developed an arrhythmia ducking coins and pieces of terracing, got the roadrunner video of the game tho and it doesn't look anywhere near as bad, and how I loved Andy May !

Went with my Dad in those days.

 

Only missed one away game in Div 4 and that was Cardiff away on a fri night.

 

Went to Torquay though (and didnt get in) but went to Colchester (and did get in) in the days of "No away fans allowed".

 

There are a lot of teams in the Championship though who are ex "Big clubs".

Scunthorpe away was a low point for me, 0-0 draw mid week, they didnt even have any bogs !

What a roller coaster season that was, trounced by the likes of scarborough and then gaining promotion on that never to be forgotten sunny day at wrexham, looking back with rose coloured glasses it has to be remembered that our biggest crowd that season was 9000, even the penultimate game of a promotion winning season only 5500 bothered to turn up.

It was a trip that we hope will never be repeated, it is now ranked in the memories of "i was there" that same as the UEFA Cup trips will be in a decades time.

 

The sad thing is, a club that is imploding in on itself, like we are in great danger of doing, could end up there again.

 

It may seem like extremes but look at what happened to the hopes of Forest, Leeds and Sheff Weds amongst many others in their hopes of 'bouncing straight back'.

as daft as it sounds i prefered the days in the lower leagues than any season in the premiership..

could you image being asked to stay sitting (as happened at blackburn) in the burnden seats?

 

those days will never return mostly because we sold our soul to move to horwich..

Used to go watching Horwich RMI back in them days, now that was sh?te (apart from the GMAC Cup Success of 88)

 

only stopped going because they moved to Wigan

Rochdale 2 v Bolton 2. We had half the ground and were two-nil down before JT scored a couple. I just remember one bloke being so pissed off that he threw his SHOE at the Rochdale keeper when he tried to retrieve the ball from the Bolton supporters behind the goal! (Rochdale, like Hitler, only had one ball)

I remember 0-0 draws with Rochdale and Mansfield with no fondness whatsoever.

Our past equated to UEFA trips:

 

Div.3 on the slide down = Skopje. Not sure what to expect till we got there - more fun than we'd have imagined, but ultimately rather lacking and staying much longer would have been depressing.

Div 4 = banged up in Hotel Nacional in Belgrade. ie an experience, and at least you can say you were there for part of Bolton's history, but not sure I'd want to go back!

Div.3 on the way up = Besiktas Small numbers but great anticipation and it ultimately turned out much better than we'd feared.

Div.2 = Munich Much supping and we did a lot better than we expected.

Premiership the first time round = Plovdiv. Lot of old faces came out of the woodwork and it got us a lot of attention. But quality was lacking.

1994-95 season = Portugal trips. Two great turn outs in great surroundings and much fun getting there - as good as it gets.

Premiership the second time round = Marseille A novelty, a top effort - but ultimately ended in dissapointment.

Premier over the last 7 years = Madrid. Ostensibly high class surroundings, but ultimately got very painful towards the end.

Watching us home and away and with a radio pinned to my ears at Wrexham, relaying scores to all around me in the terrace.

not sure of the year but went to derby's baseball ground when we lost 3-2 (tony caldwell got 2 i think) and on way back to train station we teased a dog near some scruffy boozer that chased us and bit me mate on his leg- shit it at the time but funny looking back now,2 pissed up 16/17year olds knobbing about in derby town centre.
