little whitt Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I would quite happily chop your hands off with a rusty blunt knife, poke your eyes out with knitting needles and shit in your mouths Kind Regards, had something in the post of neighbour hood watch about it
Bigtoe Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 The spunkgobblers only did me out of ?500 I cancelled just in time as two more transactions came through as I was on the blower to the bank one for ?500, one for ?2500 They even managed to get round my verified by visa All airline tickets....
exiledwhite2 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 You will get the money back though I take it? I've been jobbed, about 3 year ago, got my money back though. Theft from the bank, not yourself, was the Police advice to me.

Can't they trace the flight and seat numbers?
Guest bwfc devon Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Can't they trace the flight and seat numbers? You will get the money back though I think? If you took the insurance on the card i think. May be a question for sluffy.
Bigtoe Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Will get the money back...so not worried about that, its inconvenient though The only reason I picked up on it was because coincidentally I lost 2 of my cards in bolton this afternoon, I rang to cancel and told him my last transactions... He then blurted out these others from last night I knew nowt about - which looks suspect!! British Airways Emirates No idea where I got compromised as I'm pretty careful and uptodate on antivirus, firewalls etc.... Weird thing is, the missus got done a couple of weeks ago.... though I have an idea on who did that but best not say.... Suppose its inevitable though...
Bigtoe Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Can't they trace the flight and seat numbers? You'd have thought so, if they were genuine people using them - if you know what I mean ... A mate got done for 3k a month or two ago Airline tickets Train tickets Bus tickets A cynical view would be they're used for the movement of people in, out and around the country...
superjohnmcginlay Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 My paypal :angry:account got done last year and I had over 1500 quid go, luckily paypal recovered the money, the feckers bought loads of vouchers on ebay, bastards the lot of em'
Big City Girl Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Aye I got done on Ebay once. Stupidly read an email telling me the money had been credited to my account and so sent the phone off to Africa. Never though of checking my real Palpal account. The email looked genuine, no different from any other. I learned my lesson. Anyway, what happens in cases like this? Do you have to stand the money pending investigation or something?
superjohnmcginlay Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 In my case because its a point of sale the money left the account until it was refunded,
Guest bwfc devon Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I had ?3750.00 spent on my card once, First thing i new about it was a call from the card company asking was i in Spain. No i replied card cancelled, what annoys me is these little shits get away with it most of the time. Anyway hope their dead ?3750 in tobacconist shops.
Bigtoe Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Anyway, what happens in cases like this? Do you have to stand the money pending investigation or something? Will get it paid back next week....no issue. Its more the hassle of waiting a few days for the cards...changing all my passwords, making my facebook even more secure than it was...got better things to do on a saturday night !! I suppose the fact I lost the cards made me ring and cancel and prevent more transactions....so I was lucky in one sense! What f**ks me off is its a faceless crime.....I would just love to know who they were so I could wrap a baseball bat round the back of their heads !
Bigtoe Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Not sure if Sluffy will read this, but if so, Sluffy, do you know to what extent these cases are investigated? (Would like someone with some knowledge in this area). No doubt its too much hassle and expense to even do owt about it.

(Would like someone with some knowledge in this area). No doubt its too much hassle and expense to even do owt about it. When I was done it was ridiculous - card company didn't update my address and sent pin and card to old address Someone (who obviously lived there) went to the cash point a few times, 50 yards away, which had a camera above it Card company said get a crime number, but the police wouldn't give me one and said 'the crime is against the card company, they are trying to get you to do their job' So basically they probably had the culprit on film, they certainly knew where they lived, but nobody could be arsed, the police I have to say in all honesty couldn't give a flying f?ck and tried to pass me off to the police force where I now lived And someone at the 'investigations' dept at the card company said for ?750 they wouldn't registering it as a crime at all, their insurers cover it
athywhite1958 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Don't know if you recall this but this type of scam happened about 18 months ago in Athy, a few mates and both my daughters got scammed, it turned out to be the Shell garage (run by suntanned people with a asianstan type accent) that had cctv set up to watch folk entering their pin numbers then cloning their cards, apparently it was a nationwide (not the building society) scam, a few of them got jailed about 5 months ago, tw@ts

They sent it to an address I had moved from 7 years ago and then ?850 was withdrawn from atm's in Great Yarmouth of all places. I had complained to the bank about not receiving a new card and they admitted to the wrong address dibacle and I then complained about the stolen money. I got the ?850 back plus ?250 for the money going missing and ?250 for sending to the wrong address so a nice ?500 profit for me. These card stealers do have their uses
