2009/2010

I think another season like the last 2. Dont really think we will go down, but we will have our bad runs that will shit some of us up a bit.

Squad - Looking stronger, but apart from Knight, not sure the quality in the starting x1 has improved that much.

Still a bit worried on the goals front. Davies and Taylor both had excellent seasons in 08/09, they will find it hard to improve that.

Elmander may be the key, but from what I have seen so far, he is not upto it. Can we carry on making excuses for him?

Mid-table finish i think.

Elmander will miss a chance early on against Sunderland and the fans will jump on his back....

The first Megson out chant will be sung about 20 minutes before the season actually starts...

We will beat the Mancs at the Reebok and get a crafty point at Old Trafford...FACT!!

I reckon about the same, maybe a place or two higher, optimism says a bit more given the poor teams promoted. We need a reasonable start because October looks like a bit of a tough one but our run-in isn't too bad. Seems negative but I am realistic and if things are better I will be well chuffed... :pardon:

reckon we're still an attacking outlet from midfield short of a good season (as in not lurking round the bottom at any point)

not sure we'll sign another striker as not sure of how much of a look in he'd get with davies and elmander in the squad and with a threat from the middle reckon elmander could have a better season anyway

no names spring to mind though as to who we should sign

can see us going with what we've got

14th

I reckon Hull,Pompey,Burnley,Wolves, and Brum will be worse than us.We will end mid table with Hull,Pompey,Burnley relegated,46 points for us this season.

relegation, if not just avoid on last day

Seems about right, each year there is one surprise and usually one that just bombs (expected or not) so I would go for something similar. Wouldn't be surprised to see Wigan & BBurn in the mix close to the end either. Going to be bloody close at the bottom this season I think...

I'd agree with that.

Main point is SQUAD LOOKING STRONGER. And I would expect us to do slightly better than last season, and hopefully see less negative football at home.

The idiots will be out in force calling for Megsons head, whatever we do ( bar challenging top 8 )

Of that, I am in no doubt

No arguments from me. Somewhere between 10th and 14th. We'll be solid, hard working and playing 'effective' football with a few highlights (hopefully beating the filth).

Nowt to get excited about although, not too long ago, the moaning cnuts would have said that reaching this mid table obscurity type level would have been like finding Valhalla. Now they think that we should be in Europe every season.

Dont think we will finish above 10th, I see similar to last season like most however an improvement in our home form will see us respectibly safe before April hopefully, :good:

I also predict attending matches quite pished :yahoo:

top half must be the aim, dont think we'll quite make it.

but will be an improvement on last season.

lots of pressure on elmander, not sure he will cope.

We will be around 10-14th place imo. A lot depends on if Elmander stays fit, if he does i reckon he will score 10+ this season and we will be comfortable.

On average, 41 points gets 16th place in a 20 team top division. For solid improvement, we need more points.

On paper, the squad looks a bit deeper and a bit more solid than last season. But, as of now, I think we lack the creativity & ball-holding in midfield to win those games at home against teams around/below us that we were drawing last season. If Davies & Taylor can't match last season's scoring rate, and if Elmander doesn't come good, that will be a further problem.

I'm hoping hugely that we sign a couple more players to minimise those problems, but I have the sinking feeling that any further signings won't change the quality of the squad much and we'll largely go with what we've got.

Thankfully there seem to be several clubs with less than we have.

In which case : a solid unexciting season, occasional flirting with the bottom three, a couple of cup-tie wins, 42 points and 14th/15th final position.

26 days of the transfer window left .....

relegation, if not just avoid on last day

If you say it every year, one day you might be right!

15th to 18th me thinks, and the usual cup form.

Boring dross week after week with no end product.

There will be 3 teams worse than us though, and we will be stuck with him for another year.

Every year people say they would like to see a "good cup run" - have we decided what's good and what's not with regards to a cup run. I would imagine it's a quarter final place at the very least

A lot depends on Elmander. We need another goalscorer to improve on last year and it should be him.

We should be sniffing out another attacker, perhaps a loan deal. I'd be a lot more confident if we did - say a Bellamy, Voronin, Welbeck... we have very limited options in that department.

Should be good for mid / lower mid table though.

Best case scenario, Knight and Davis perform straight away, Muamba/Elmander improve in their second season with us, Davies, Taylor and Cahill keep up last seasons form. We could be top half if things fall into place.

Semis of the milk cup and quarters of the FA constitute a good 'run' for me...

45pts for 12th place and I'll be more than happy with that.

Reckon that Hull, Birmingham, Wolves, Burnley, Portsmouth will definitely be below us. After that it leaves us scrapping with Wigan, Sunderland and Stoke.

If we get another striker and an attacking midfielder we might get even higher :)

theres an argument we ran out of legs

that has been addressed even IF the signings don't improve the quality, they do up the quantity

we didn't fail to finish top half cos of the poor quality, we failed cos we weren't consistent

if 9 or 10 aint enough we're gonna have some disappointed punters going forwards

Top 10

13th

Not going backwards

I'll go for 9th or 10th, with a certain Mark Davies adding the creativity that we are all looking for in a midfield 3 of, a very much improved Muamba doing what he does best in the defensive role, Sean Davis holding the ball, simple passes and covering the pitch along with Mark Davies who will have a more attacking role, with plenty of energy and mazy runs and a few goals as well.

With the addition of a creative midfielder and a striker then I would definitely say we will be good enough to finish top half.

With just a striker added then we really do need Mark Davies to step up to the mark (no pun intended)

With no more additions then the pressure is put on Elmander.

Mid table if we keep Cahil and KD avoids injury. We are definately better than all the teams promoted in the last two seasons, Pompey look doomed from the start. Could see us getting into the top ten if we can avoid injuries but the squad is still a little fragile in places.

I think we are still short of a striker to fill in if KD picks up an injury. I cant see Elmander leading the line on his own.
