And you sir are a cunt of the highest order.

God bless Nat, it beggars belief that Bolton has a statue for a steeplejack, and not for the towns greatest sporting legend.

It's been pointed out that Nat's family don't want a statue whilst he's so ill.

When the day comes that his family agree to the idea of a statue of the great man im sure it wont be a problem.. Plenty of wanderers will happily contribute a few quid each towards the costs... We'll raise the money in no time :good:

Cheers Superwhite, beltin' clip that.

*takes tongue out of cheek*

you lot are way too serious.

There are some things you just don't joke about. What this man means to our town will become evident when the great one passes away. I am seriously considering hopping on a plane when it happens to pay my respects to, IMO, the greatest son of Bolton of all time.

I would not be surprised to see packed streets not unlike a royal funeral.

You should hang your head Loft.

I don't even get the joke if it was tongue in cheek.

instead of the swanky bridge crossing the duel carridge way,or the ridicluous uefa cup lookalike staue on the roundabout, why wasnt there a statue of sir' nat put there?

and while on that topic...some jock cycles round a track quicker than anyone else 3 times against a bunch of other like minded blokes in lycras and gets a knighthood! bonkers.

why has tom finney and stanley(if it wernt for stan morteson you would be unknown) matthews got a knighthood and not nat? disgrace.

oh and loft nuthouse, your that much of a fucking numptie you shouldnt be allowed to comment on our club.

to joke about our most iconic hero,a man that has shown nothing but pride about having the privilidge to wear the bolton shirt.and to even dare to question the great mans intentions in wanting nothing more than greatness for his and our club that is bolton wanderers is disgusting.said in jest or not..theres somthing you dont jest about.

long live nat lofthouse,i never had the privilidge to see the great man,but if theres anyone one man that can sum up bolton wanderers, its that great man nat lofthouse.

That "Family doesn't want a statue" is a load of Bollocks...Nat's daughter lives abroad, and doesn't bother with Nat too much, as of two months ago, he was still quite physically fit, but his mind just isn't there,

I will be stood besides you Bolty when that sad day rolls around

The club have had a sculptor make plans, yes its 10's of thousands.

I was told Nat's family didnt want any statues putting up of him whilst he's not in the best of health, so its on hold for now.

The cost of 10's of thousands should be irrelevant really, especially when we could just not pay McCann for 1 week and that would about cover it...

I do fully understand the point though about not putting one up whilst he is in ill health, I presume as soon as he passes away, then one will appear

Put the statue in front of reception, surrounded by all them commemorative bricks... Would look nice that :good:

if anybody who knows me wants to borrow this, let me know

if anyone's interested there's a substantially cheaper copy available at

http://www.hedgerowbooks.com/onlinebookshop/books.asp?mthd=dsply&abid=176&bkmrk=1&rcrdcnt=1

and the blurb says there's the previous owner's sig and date. Who writes their own sig and date in a book? In reality, is it autographed I wonder?

Generally statues are only commissioned for people once they have died. I can't think of a living person who has a statue. Nat will certainly merit one. He is probably the most famous Boltonian. I have spoken to many people around this country and usually once Bolton is mentioned, Nat's name is never far behind. I have had the pleasure of meeting him on a few occasions. He always had time to speak to you and was not full of himself. If you asked for his autograph he always said thank you for asking. A bit different to some of today's players who almost consider it an imposition to sign an autograph.

I'm editing this because I've just remembered, Tom Finney has a statue outside Deepdale. I still think it is too early for one for Nat though.

Things for me that stand out. Apologising to the fans for the state of the club that first Roadrunner night in the Executive Club, (Walsall away).

Massive thumbs ups and big smiles has a bunch idiots pass him and Anderson on the motorway to Bristol in 86. In my head anyway, it was a 'keep the faith' moment.

I remember years ago when I was about 15 & used to wash cars at a local dealership for my Saturday job, the boss gave me his 2 passes to The Burnden exec suit where me & me dad watched Wanderers in comfort :pardon: & got a buffet meal thrown in with it. I was nervous mixing with what I considered higher class people. My outstsanding memory of that day was Nat Lofthouse coming over & standing between me & my dad as we sat eating food, leaning on our chairs & chatting away with us as if he'd known us years, really settled me down & made us feel welcome, what a top bloke & still is.

Did'nt Nat introduce the Burnden Goldline / lifeline that DID save Wanderers from Bankrupcy in the 80's?

No , we are boltonians ... To put what you put is shocking . Nat is , and always will be the greatest Wanderer . If it was a joke, please fuck off nw

Sums it up perfectly. How easy would it have been for the great man to become big headed with all of the adulation and hero worship? Not a chance. Feet on the ground and always proud of his roots at Castle Hill school etc. Always had time for everyone. The ultimate ambassador for BWFC.

They don't make them like this any more. Other heroes like Super John and JB were similar characters - always had the common touch and understood that the fans are what it's all about. Looking at blokes like this, it's easy to despise some of the so called heroes of the Premier League today in their Lamborghinis and haute couture.

It's been pointed out that Nat's family don't want a statue whilst he's so ill.

I know, but if Elmander can be a statue at the Reebok, surely we can have one of Nat?

I disagree . A statue near Horwich would only be seen by a small proportion of the town ,once a fortnight & Nat never played there anyway.

Nat is more than just a footballer & any statue of him should be in the town centre where all Boltonians could see it seven days a week, It might even bring a bit of pride back into the town & the football club.

There should be one by the town hall commisioned by the council and one at the Reebok commisioned by the club,I would like too see the one at the reebok taken from the iconic picture at wembley in 58 with Nat on the shoulders of his teammates holding the trophy, that would look magnificent outside he Reebok main doors.

Just as long as they don't comission the same sculptor as the one who did Fred Dibnah's effort. Looks fuck all like him!
