Superb find!! Obviously I’d love my Dad to be still alive (sadly at 105 it would be wishful thinking) but it’s stuff like this that rings so many bells about stuff he told me By 1945 he’d be

That's a cracking piece of footage.

'Bolton were counted as one of the aristocrats of the game.'

How times change.

We were aristocrats until the 50s then the minimum wage came in the early 60s and we did not move with the times, as said elsewhere Man U were similar size club then Busby embraced Europe nicked Duncan Edwards from under our noses and he rest is history.

Brilliant find! looks like the Burnden Terrace didn't change much from the early days.

It did mate, it was rebuilt in the 1920's using cash from one of our cup runs.

Another Bury fixture

Sammy Lee playing for Bolton! How many of those Bury players went on to play for us? McGinlay, Lee, Patterson, Cunningham...

  • 4 weeks later...

He played in Iceland/Finland and shit I think.

i think salford trotter knew sinclair...or maybe it was sissons

it just shows how 'thin' we were under allardyce and megson

the likes of comyn platt, sissons, sinclair, wolfe, wolze and that black yank winger

they just disappeared off the radar despite being 'next in line'

of all of em, at least livesey had a career and didn't fojut have a reasonable time back home?

That wiki page describing him as a striker little off the mark looking at his goal scoring record.

it should read little known striker. one of the other lads at our place is Alan Stubb's cousin

And not forgetting Teymourian who was more than next in line.

I remember talking to Neil Fisher's dad at work when he said his son was playing for the second string at a pre match friendly at Flixton , only down the road for me so I went to see this unknown talent. His greatest feat was scoring on his debut against Darlo.

Just watched that again...

Fuck me some tasty challenges!

There's a clear two footer from their right back late on...instant red nowadays.

Our mon just rolled with it and got up.

David lee getting hacked to pieces in the box and no pen given aswell.

Little did lee,Paterson, mcginlay know they would be premier league players 5 years after that.

In comparison to us they had some real quality Bury absolutely loved it when we stole them of them, thanks to Hugh eaves getting into financial difficulty, I wonder where we suddenly got the cash for the 3 Bury lads?

we had a cup run

Well that was a massive stroke of luck.:)

Question

Did David Lee feature for Southampton v us in the cup?

don't think so

think that game(s) allowed us to buy him
