The pitch held up OK first half but ended up a mess at full time, good 1-0 win though which takes us to 4th, Newton Aycliffe away on Tuesday in the Vase, if it's cancelled again the game will go to next Saturday meaning the Linnets game will be later in the season

The laws for the Vase are slightly different to others, it is in the hands of the FA Vase committee and Newton Aycliffe's chairman is on the committee (so we've been told) so there is no chance of the tie being swapped to Atherton

and hope to play sat against linnets and get a decent crowd? to supliment the loss from forfeiting the comp?

No, you get fined heavily for pulling out of competitions, we wanted to pull out of the Lancashire Shield but it would have cost us £500, if the game is off tomorrow we have to try on Thursday then Saturday, if it's played tomorrow and we win, we will play the next round on Saturday as it is FA Vase day, if we play and lose we will play Linnets - provided we can get our pitch sorted as it was a mess after the game on Saturday

We could get told at around 10.30-11.00 that the game is on then have to fuck about trying to get the afternoon off work, absolutely total disregard for our club by Newton Aycliffe, but the weather up there is worse than here and rain is forecast again

My lad lives in Newcastle and he reckons the rain is absolutely bucketing it down.

It is. I had to remove my cigarette from its holder so i could keep it dry under my kepi. Hammering down since afternoon and forecast much the same all up the east side through co durham all day tomorrow. Localised flooding so If they have postponed the inspection expecting an improvement they are delugeded.......

To be honest we couldn't have hosted a game today, our pitch is still drowning and still hasn't recovered from last Saturday, lads have been on all week doing repairs but it's too wet to get a roller on, if we ever play N.A. and win we will play Marske at home, they played today and beat FC Northumbria
