Spineless Team / No Captain ?

Do we actually have a spinless team that just isn't up for battles anymore?

I don't see anyone in the side as a true leader, one that will roll up their sleeves and start to boss the team and if nothing else give others either encouragement or a kick up the arse. The old age argument that they are all professionals doesn't wash with me, far too many players are passive and just coast through games that are not always going to plan. Controversial as this may appear I think Kevin Davies needs to be stripped of the armband but who the hell you would pass it too I've not a clue?!?

My honest opinion is that we needs someone like Kevin Nolan and yes many didn't like him but you could never doubt his commitment to the cause, something our current players are lacking big time. So who in the current squard is up for it and has the commitment, desire and holds enough respect to be captain?

We didn't appear to have a plan A

not ideal but id give it to cahill, he may only be here till jan. it has to be someone who is going start every game and he is the only one who fits into that category . the jurys still out on nrc and for his recent performances for england and his whole atitude during all the transfer speculation gary cahill deserves to have the greatest honour in football captain of bolton wanderers fc.

fcuking hell

we;re spineless cos we get battered by teams with 11 players all better than our 11

we're spineless cos we don't kick fuck out of the opposition

fcuk me, what utter bollocks

i've even read the site cretins suggesting we don't try

our players aren't as good as the opposition and our manager can't organise them

other than that, i don't see why we can't beat the likes of city and united

davies is finished, and has been for pushing 18 months, but spineless?

bollocks

No body else entitled to an opinion other than you? You're happy with your lot, good on you I say but there is nothing wrong with striving for success.

I never suggested anything about kicking lumps out of the oppostion did I? Spinless/guttless means the same, doesn't mean to say we have to kick lumps, but chasing shadows for 90 minutes is not fun, tactis are piss poor and the quality we have of trying to shut the opposition down.....

and the quality we have of trying to shut the opposition down.....

have as many opinions as you want, but when they're clearly bollocks don't be shocked if i disagree

i'm not sure if i agree with the quoted bit as i haven't got a clue what its supposed to mean

What's wrong with that? I remember Roy Hartle depositing Warren Bradley on the Burnden Terrace.

He then became a headmaster in town so it can't have affected him too badly.

Next thing to hit him that hard was a tram on Blackpool front.

You need to get out more :D :drinks:

Going back, if I may, to the original question?

Stripping Davies of the captaincy would surely lead to his removal from the starting XI, as I think the armband is keeping him in the team, as it did for Nolan.

We need to buy a captain with a proven record. I suggest Andrew Strauss.

I think it got to No.2

CAPTAIN-SENSIBLE-HAPPY-TALK-7-(45)-UK-A&M-1982.jpg

Davies stopped being a decent captain about half way through last season. Some of the times he's toe poked the ball away in a huff have been embarrassing, the worse probably when Chelsea bagged from it last year I think.

How about Johann Strauss ?

From what I've seen of Reo-Coker, he isn't good enough to be in the team never mind captain.

I'd rather have Muamba.

or maybe the other 3 aren't good enough

just a thowt, y'know

those of us who appreciate muamba have long said the lad has a nigh on impossible job being put on his plate by the tactical genius

if were gonna have a captain thats vocal then i suggest robinson i know a lot on here dont want him in the team but he seems the only one who actually has a go at other players when their not doin their jobs ( iknow pot kettle and black come to mind )but and its only my opinion at least he looks like he cares and he's the only one i can recall who at the end of satdays drubbing still walked round and clapped the fans instead of skulking off down the tunnel . he's not the best i grant you that but he's a tryer and god loves a tryer unfotunately god does'nt seem to be a bolton fan

if were gonna have a captain thats vocal then i suggest robinson and its only my opinion at least he looks like he cares

So unless you are kicking lumps out of the opposition, then you dont care for your club ?

As Casino says, what a load of bollocks.

hold on, isnt the reason we love skd, his commitment?

were in my post did it mention kicking fucking lumps out the opposition i just said he's one of the more vocal ones in the team thats all he's not everybodys cup of tea but until we get someone better then he'll continue to start thets a fact

The day Paul Robinson is our captain is the day I pack in. League One maybe, this division or the Championship, not a fucking chance.

I said the day Davies was made Captain it was a mistake he can/could lead the line but he can't lead a team - the problem we have is there is no obvious replacement. Davies is past it so guaranteeing him a start because he's captain will cost us - coyle will need to have big balls to remove him as captain if he still wants to keep him or he could do it early december ready for big sam to take the bait and sort it out for us by getting shut and moving on - that might not be a bad shout depending on our points total at the time

I like the fact coyles invested in younger players generally but the senior players have got to be able to step up and perform week in week out Davies, Jussi, Knight, Robinson more often than not are falling short.

Coyle and his staff need to be strong enough to suggest a change of tactic against the top sides and away from home - having Mavies, Eagles and Petrov as 3/4's of your midfield against Utd was suicide, has he learnt from Liverpool, Wembley it would suggest not he needs to wake up and quickly. Playing 4-5-1 in certain fixtures does not need to mean you can't or arent playing positively

Coyle tactically of late and over the cahill transfer saga has looked naive and a chump for me but I'd back him to have the pragmatism to learn from it.

Agree....

I dont think we're spineless - I think we're being led by a manager who insists on playing teams off the park instead of kicking them off it and hoofing the ball into the air.

Thats what we were asking for when Megson was here. All hail Owen Coyle we said.

And now he's here, and trying to play them off the park, we're finding out we're not good enough (by far), Coyle is a bit tactically naive, but true to form we're still moaning.

So what do we do?

Go back to hoofing, kicking, watching dogshit football but having a fucking good go at the best, or just admit that we're going to play some good football, bob around in mid table, but get royally dicked now and again?

It's one or the other, unless someone has a spare ?300 million knocking about.

yep

I'll take this

going to go and read the QPR thread to cheer miself up

It's not quite as simple as that

Megson's side could quite easily have been beaten 5-0 by this Utd team, 3-1 by this Liverpool team and 3-2 by this City team

I'd take our current situation over the Megson days any time

We won't go down and we've got the points we predicted we'd have by now

It doesn't mean it's all OK; the weaknesses and tactical naivety is there to be seen, but it's not the end of the world either.....

For me the gap between the top 4 and the others has widened even more this summer, so let's defer judgement of our overall standing until we've played a few of the "have nots"

im over manure performance now.

cant be arsed with the whole megon v coyle debate as its pointless.

majority of fans are happy with coyle (i think), and the players are still behind him (i think) so im happy (today)

bring on norwich, we'll shit um.
