gonzo
both defining eras in music. both changed music as we know it. but which was better? and which were you part of? were you a raver, gathering at serivce stations listening to pirate radio waiting to hear where nearest rave was about to happen? or were you a fully clad in doc martins and drain pipes? all stories required by the way! no balls
I was on the ride for one & loved it. Too young for the other, but imagine it was equally as great a time had by all. Rave on! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvhDd6_ofm4
frank_spencer
if it wasn't for both scenes then genius music like this wouldn't exist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmin5WkOuPw&feature=related oh and i went for punk as the rave scene was heavily influenced by what went on back in the 70's Edited December 14, 2011 by frank_spencer

frank_spencer
I've never really 'got' house music. I can enjoy most styles of music but house has always seemed a bit sterile.

Burndens Bogs
Punk changed everything imo.Being a 16/17 year old when it first started, the music was like a breath of fresh air after years of absolute shite middle of the road pop or glam rock.I never actually dressed or acted as a punk myself - but i loved the music and the live gigs. As teenagers we'd been force fed shite like Abba,The Osmunds,Mud,Sweet etc etc - then came the raw energy as stuff like this burst onto the scene - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBt3_TuhuEw And this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBKb0iZSTfo Changed music forever imo. I like a bit of Jazz now & have no recollection of listening to that in my teens. Yes, I'm old.
