Krimzon
As a nurse who has spent 10 years in ICU and has been on many Resus teams. You do treat everyone differentley but with the same amount of care for the same goal. By this I mean that Fab had 2 hours of CPR which is incredibly physically traumatic for the body. the fact that he is a very strong, fit and otherwise healthy young man meant he could tolerate this . For a patient like this and with children with every hope of a positive outcome the staff involved woulf have worked on him for much longer if needed. ( I know of young drowning victims who have recovered after 11 hours of constant CPR), where as a frail old woman wouldnt generally be able to tolerate that much CPR. Age and health is a factor. Also Everyone has to agree at the same time to stop (out of a team of up to 12 staff in many cases). In my experience if just 1 wants to carry on they invariably will until the team leader makes the final decision, but everyone is very sensitive about the situation at the time. As mentioned the fact that this consultant influenced the decision to go to that particular hospital was outstanding and had a major impact on Fabs current condition, it could well have been different if he had been taken to the nearest A&E and not a specialist centre. I havent posted on this subject before now as I have been lost for words and have been expecting the worst. Fabs current condition of being taken off the ventilator and inotropes and been awake and speaking a few words is amazing. You dont win many of these cases, and my hope for him has now soared. obbzi
Apparently the doctor rang ahead to the hospital and told them what was happening and told staff to get everything ready for when they arrived with Fabrice. A lot of love and thanks go to this guy (Doctor) all the medical staff, the spurs fans at the game and fans and players from all over the world. It was really nice to see some Madrid players wearing Muamba t-shirts. I never thought I would say this either but I think Howard Webb also deserves a lot of praise for making such a bold decision. Will be nice to give all the Spurs fans a great reception when they come to the Reebok

Traf
Just been listening to Dr Deaner on SSN and I've nothing but the utmost repsect for him. He just spoke about what happened on Saturday and just sort of played it down: "It's just what I do, etc etc" Unbelievable bloke. He then said that he spoke to Fab just 2 hrs after they brought out of sedation. He said he asked him name and Fab answered "Fabrice Muamba". Dr D then said "I believe you're a good footballer" Fab apparently replied with "I try!" The doc said he was so overcome by Fab's ability to make joke about it all that he had tears in his eyes.
