Must admit, I never see this "Southern Bias" in the media. As NB points out, the press have been wanking themselves daft over this Manc derby for weeks now. Also, anytime Liverpool play they also can't wait to start wanking themselves into a frenzy. I would even go so far as to suggest that the press is more "Manchester" biased than Southern biased.
