Apart from any financial or European considerations, I doubt they'd relegate Rangers to the bottom tier because the grounds at that level are probably on a par with the likes of LR & Colls & simply wouldn't be able to cope with an invasion of Rangers' fans.

In 1967 Rangers lost a Scottish Cup tie at Berwick Rangers (1-0) in front of over 13,000. A consequence of this, probably the most embarrassing result in their history, was that they got rid of their strikers and signed a centre forward from Dunfermline (A Ferguson).

throw them into division 3

Edited by tarian1979

I am in Scotland at the moment and the concesus amongst fans of other clubs is they should be thrown out of the premier league.

A lot of Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts and Dundee Utd fans have lobbied their chairman to vote against allowing them to stay.

A big Celtic fan says he will miss the old firm derby but it will only be for three years.

There will be a vote in a few weeks and Rangers need a 8-4 majority (Courtesy of the Scottish Sun)

Who is this charles green mon anyroad?

is he related to Teresa?

Why dont they call themselves Glasgow Rangers?

Toxic brand. B)

I would be surprised if the reformed club is not in the SPL next season.

The SFA will have to get a wriggle on soon anyway, the fixtures are out soon.

How's this got into the football section?

Said on the radio yesterday, that the fixtures will soon come out, and they'll just replace Rangers with an "x" until they know what is going on.

I think Rangers should be dumped inthe 3rd division, but it won't happen, as the other SPL clubs will vote to keep them in, otherwise they'll get fuck all money from their TV deal, as the only reason SKY take any interest is because the "Old Firm" are there, without one or the other of them, SKY could well pull the plug completely.

Wont they have a contract with Sky for X years though?

I believe it's up for renewal next year, to be honest I wasn't really listening to it. The general gist though was that the other clubs in the SPL would struggle massively if Rangers were not in it due to lack of money from the away fans that they bring and a reduction in the SKY money......I think

It's been a while coming, but the SPL was always going to find itself in this sort of trouble one day, as there was only so long they could keep going with only two clubs having such a massive stanglehold

I heard someone on from some Scotch outfit a few days ago and he was pouring cold water on "all the money that Rangers" provide when they bring their fans.

He said something like it is possible that Rangers may only visit your ground once per season - I admit I wasn't particularly paying attention but just assumed this could be something to do with when their league splits in two halfway through the season.

Personally, I think it'd be a disgrace if Rangers are just allowed to start in the same league with a clean slate. What sort of message does that send out? If you're anyone but Celtic or Rangers you need to keep your houses in order, but if you're one of the Old Firm then just do what you want.

cheeky cnut whats wrong with lr and colls????

when rangers went tits up the other month, some of the other clubs kicked up a fuss about not getting what they were owed from rangers through transfers and gate money, they'll soon be voting for them to stay in the spl due to loss of gate revenue if they dont play rangers and probably less money of sky to due a loss of 1 of the big 2.

2 faced fuckers i say.

as a gers fan i think they should be placed in the 3rd tier of scottish football and start again,

those 2 face fuckers could also go out of business if they dont gte any sky money.

Agreed - a few fun years fo the fans and a lot of lower league clubs getting a couple of Cup Finals a year and some fat (relatively) takings.

been put into division 3.

what a shame.

That's a massive drop down. I've only read bits as I care very little for Scottish football but I got the impression there was a fair bit of vindictive activity going on?

It won't happen.
