bolty58 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 It's something different in the calendar year and all a bit of fun, not for miserable people who love nothing but to slag off people/countries. It's for simpletons, pagans, occult fans and novelty shop owners. Might run a poll for which one you are. Quote
MickyD Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Anyone been in the US at Halloween? I couldn't believe my eyes. Middle aged folk coming into work in fancy dress and then every fucker leaving at midday to go home to 'prepare'. It's for kids for fucks sake. A primary school disco should suffice. I was in Salem, Mass. on Haloween a few years ago. It seemed to be the place to go for all Americans. There was a Haloween fair which stretched across tree of four football pitches. As you say, grown adults partaking in all the fun. Beltin'! Quote
leigh white Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Taking a mate and her grandkid to Spookyworld in Warrington this Sunday, really good day out when i went with them last year.I had a racing ticker with some of the things they had on. Quote

SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 My word, you're a set of miserable bastards. You know that if you let your hair down every now and then, nobody is going to think any less of you. I actually had a lot of fun going out on Saturday, and the thousands of others out there suggest that I wasn't the only one. Quote

SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 What did you dress up as? Bane, from The Dark Knight Rises. Lots of scantily clad ladies out though, seems like people who DON'T go out are the ones who are missing out tbh. Quote

To be fair mate,I think Halloween means a bit more to folk round your neck of the woods,no? Here you get 14 year old chavs on BMX's,slapping on a 99p mask from Spa shop knocking on your door and demanding money. Quote

One day a year, a bit of fun, something different, no need to be all grumpy and moody about it,, I have a small pumpkin lantern that I have on for this week, my room is mildly glowing with orange, America do things so much better at these timesand Christmas etc, I think it would be great to see streets full of spooky deco, lights etc. Edited October 29, 2012 by Didledee Quote

I think British people (and I include myself in this) have a bit of a stigma about making a fool out of themselves, and so generally seem to be quite reserved. I get stick for it all the time over here. I think the US is just general not arsed what people think about them, and to be honest that's quite admirable in some ways. The kids here even say "thank you". Although, I think you'd be a bit more polite if there was a 50/50 chance that the owner of the house you're knocking has a loaded shotgun by the front door. Quote
