lrevolution Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 school? as in a proper school or a football acadamy type thing? think it'll be in the same vein as this one at everton http://community.evertonfc.com/education/everton-free-school/ Quote
Big_Sharps Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Barcelona have something which sounds similar which is a learning institute and also a football academy, not sure if they have boys and girls or if this is actually just a school that Wanderers are looking at. Quote
Guest Blixa Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 its not the responsibility of eddie davies to reverse cliffys mess You can see who is driving new development with the council's response. Ordinarily, anything like this would have Cliff Morris singing and dancing about great investment for Bolton. It looks like the council has been intentionally cut out of this. As for Bolton town centre, as much of it is owned privately, would be hard for anyone to do anything radical with it without buying up property. Bolton had its chance when finance was being thrown around a few years back (see Bury). Destined for pound shops and student flats now. Quote

Eavesy Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 The real great thing about our club is that we have the whole set up. Fair play to Gartside and Davies for putting us streets ahead of the likes of Everton, Fulham and qpr. It would be unimaginable to try and set up what we have now with the way things are. Quote
Moderators Carlos Posted November 8, 2012 Moderators Posted November 8, 2012 Has anyone got a picture of what Burnden was going to look like before they built Normid? Quote

anewman Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 why cant they spend 100m on buying some half decent players? Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 why cant they spend 100m on buying some half decent players? I honestly can't tell when you being serious and when you aren't any more. Quote
frank_spencer Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 why cant they spend 100m on buying some half decent players? Because 1)this is a long term strategic investment in other businesses besides the football. 2) not all of the £100m is coming from the wanderers. Quote
Marc505 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 here you go mate... Ha! Ive never seen that one. I saw an artists impression of what our new ground was going to look like in the Evening News around the time we decided to move out of Burnden, and it was printed again in a 100 Years At Burnden Park book I once had. It looked something similar to the San Siro actually! There were what looked like four giant spiral staircase tower type efforts at each croner. Looked decent! Quote
Members DazBob Posted November 8, 2012 Members Posted November 8, 2012 here you go mate... You'd have to wrap up warm if you're in that end on the right-hand side. I remember the one Marc's on about. The four corners looked like big tubes with floodlights at the top iirc. I'm happy with the way it turned out ... just a shame it's so 'breezeblocky' in the concourses. Quote
Big_Sharps Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 (edited) Looks like a fucking pinball machine. Edited November 8, 2012 by Big_Sharps Quote

enzo gambaro Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 (edited) Does that tilt and pivot, Flash Gordon style? We could have given Anewman the remote and spent years ooing and ahhing as Jussi avoided the spikes in his penalty area.</p> Edited November 8, 2012 by enzo gambaro Quote
Site Supporter MickyD Posted November 8, 2012 Site Supporter Posted November 8, 2012 we could rent jjb's old building. its only 650k a year for 18000 ft/sq ! No wonder the fuckers went bust. That's a lot of cheap sportswear before you draw some profits. Quote

Moderators Casino Posted November 8, 2012 Moderators Posted November 8, 2012 Has anyone got a picture of what Burnden was going to look like before they built Normid? wasn't it as part of normid? i'd swear they were putting a grass pitch on top of the building Quote
grego Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 At last. This explains why Dougie Left Crystal Palace ! Too good an opportunity to miss he said (4th from bottom, half decent squad and 100m development) £100m BWFC redevelopment plan Quote
HR Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 I doubt the club would just punt this by an Architect on spec. without assurances of grants, agreements with anchor tennants etc? Let the Lostock locals campaign that they preferred living next to a sprawling munitions factory than football pitches. Long term vision aside, the problem with having one foot in the past and one foot in the future is that you piss on the present. Quote
