For The Older Posters

Do any of you remember a lad of Indian descent who used to run with the Wanderers lads in the mid 1970's,initials MF ?

M still lives and works in Bolton, and very well known indeed, but stopped going to the match esp after a certain incident and being best friends with the accused

He's given me a whole stack of pictures and original newspaper cuttings from those days,i may upload some but some might not be in the best taste, and out of respect for others

one pic which may be ok to look at is available on Blackpool's Muckers site, section 'Darker Stories'....on that thread, scroll down to the end and there's a couple of acceptable pics from Bloomfield Road,1974

my first away game watching the Whites was at Blackburn think it was 75/76 season and a 1-1 draw. a decent crowd on with 1,000s of Wanderers. i imagine most of the older posters on here went to that game, was it a lively affair ?

All i'll say is Bristol City wouldn't have taken liberties in my day, like they did this season

cant remember the year but they had been promoted and brought fuckin loads get slapped about a bit( i was on my own) then the pub emptied and the bodies started hitting the floor

someone :shiftyninja: :innocent: kicked one in the hea dsparked him out and went through his pockets 25 quid in his pocket a goodnight was had, with a black eye , in town later

Thought same myself, robbing someone just a step to far for me.

I think she was a little surprised at the "encouragement" I was giving our boys.

I've mentioned it previously on here. Met all the Bolton players in town a few weeks after the Burnley cup game on their Xmas do. Mark Came told us how half the players were shitting themselves in the changing rooms whilst all the battling was going on - whilst he was chomping at the bit to get out there and slot a few of the Burnley dicks! haha.

Remember it well. I was in the Darwen end. About 2.30 I saw just two Bolton lads (both went to my school) run from the corner of the Blackburn end next to the riverside, obviously chanting Bolton towards the Blackburn fans, Who ran like a flock frightened sheep in the opposite direction. which obviously sparked encouragement from us with the usual chant of Hello Hello Bolton agro. Funny as Fuck!. of course in them days the OB just marched you to your own end instead of kicking you out. So the two lads just got the obligatory Oooly Oooly Ooligans on the way back to us from the Bolton fans. Saw a few other known faces kicking off in the Blackburn end during the game who where also given there marching orders by the OB. I know and work with loads of Blackburn fans who will tell you of at least one story of having the misfortune of being in the wrong place when Bolton visited town.

I've an Evertonian mate from Winsford who is very good friends with Mark Came. He's always telling my mate stories about the Cuckoo Boys and their exploits. Camey is a big Stoke fan and often winds up the stoke fans in his social club that Bolton always did the N40. Said he and a few players used to love it when we were in the opposition ends kicking off

The two in the blackburn end. Was it not fred & ginger?

Anyone remember Watford away 1969?, first time Skinheads appeared mob handed & on our case.

More specifically 'who threw that faaarkin can! ...that was a long day especially for our greaser contingent but eventful to say the least apart from the match which I think ended 0-0.

Back in the 70's part of your terrace apprenticeship was away at Oldham. The Chaddy end was the first away end I ever set foot in. Think I went in at least three times back then?. Remember one time I was late getting in and spotted a few lads from Bolton about ten or so in number, so went and stood with them. One said they were in earlier and a few young lads were running a muck but got kicked out back to the Rochdale road end. A large group of lads near us spotted us and started chanting City thinking we might run Ha ha. A couple of lads ran at um and a small fight broke out. Next thing we know one of then a half cast lad with a big fuck off Afro wearing a bright yellow V neck jumper pulls out a big shiny blade and started beckoning us to come and have ago. He was a game fucker not very big, but none of the Bolton lads were stupid enough to risk getting stabbed or worse. plus we were vastly outnumbered but our lads still had a go. About 20 mins later the OB decided to kick us out. Quite a bit of scrapping took place after the match with Bolton running a mock. I was run over by a police horse and thought that's enough for one day.

Dad remember's watford well even though over 43 years ago!! A gang of 8 of them took fred dickie to this game for his 1st away match and than london for the weekend. Remember the gang of skinheads chasing us in watford town centre after the game and fred dickie running into them whilst we ran into the pub, fred scattered them first, than ran into the pub and we locked ourselves in the pub and eventually got a police escort to the train station, got the train into london, night out in soho and all 8 of us slept on a empty tube train in the depot.

I ain't read this but I imagine it to be like Chinese whispers as you go page by page. :p

Great read part of BWFC history these memories, superb.

A few of us on here remember this. Sheepskins, cherry red DM's, Levi Sta-Prest, shaved in partings. Immediately taken by the look and at the next home game, around a quarter of the Lever End looked similar!

Watford definitely the place I first saw skinheads.

Not too long after that, Halifax came to town with their take on it. Fucking weirdos had the Docs and the haircuts but also military great coats. I seem to remember that being a rather eventful day too (as most were).

I used to start looking forward to Saturday on Monday morning! Adrenaline rush like no other.

We got 'chased' to the railway station & were promptly told to go to platform 2 for the slow train to Crewe .The team turned up

while we were waiting & they were parked on platform 1 ,word soon spread that the team were being picked up exclusively by the express train to Manchester piccadilly.

The railway police told us we were not to get on this train as it was stopping just for the team.

I think there may have been around 30 of us & we decided to get over to platform one in groups of two or three under the premise

of getting autographs (as if). When we got over there Jonny Byrom & John Ritson suggested we conceal ourselves in a large shed

that was located some distance from the end onf the platform this we all did although the RP cottoned on as the train pulled

into the station. Our big disadvantage was that we were off the platform so getting on the train was hard work due to the height

of the doors .As the RP charged down the platform, with dogs, we were like a bunch of injuns hanging off the doors & trying to board & we all managed to get on , very sweet moment giving the gestapo the forks as we sped away....all singing some song about Charley Hurley !!

Hmmmmm!!!!!!!!

Thought same myself, robbing someone just a step to far for me.

so five lads kicking fuck out of me is ok but a little monitary recompense isnt?????? well you know what .fuck you

all singing some song about Charley Hurley !!

I really wish you hadn't said that. Going to drive me mad now trying to remember it.

As I was walking down Bradshawgate I saw King Charlie Hurley

and he said to me 'are you going to see the famous Bolton Wanderers?'

and the cry was no surrender , surrender or you'll die

and we all went down to see the ground of the famous Bolton Wanderers.

obviously sung to the the tune of the sash, which is a bit ironic really as Hurley captained the Republic of Ireland.

I remember one match at oldham in the 80s

We was all in the spoted cow it was packed out with

Bolton about 14 of us went for a walk we bumped in to about 50 oldam lads

They legged us through this esate we just turned round

Ripped up the garden fences and ran in to them

milk bottles from a milk crate were being thrown

It kicked of for ages .

We heard this loud cheer behind us it was barney and co

It was then oldham dissapeared
