Do any of you remember a lad of Indian descent who used to run with the Wanderers lads in the mid 1970's,initials MF ?

M still lives and works in Bolton, and very well known indeed, but stopped going to the match esp after a certain incident and being best friends with the accused

He's given me a whole stack of pictures and original newspaper cuttings from those days,i may upload some but some might not be in the best taste, and out of respect for others

one pic which may be ok to look at is available on Blackpool's Muckers site, section 'Darker Stories'....on that thread, scroll down to the end and there's a couple of acceptable pics from Bloomfield Road,1974

Were it Mo and Azzy? I remember 2 Asian lads in the early to mid 70's always at the match, went the same route as us, Lever End, Embankment, Burnden Terrace finishing up in Manny Road, they were beltin lads too

We were talking that game in 73 on the way to Brighton yesterday. Blackpool turned up with about 200 lads and tried to take the Lever End.Got a good slap and chase all over Bolton

another interesting thread from the Muckers recalls them in the Lever End in '73,but being chased to the train station by a mob of 2,000 Bolton fans baying for their blood

Every fucker had a go them days from about 69 through to 75(?). Sheffield United, Boro, Derby, Villa, Hull, Leicester - you name it.

Loads of outstanding memories (not all could be termed 'pleasant') but, apart from a bloodbath on the Manny Road car park with Rovers Rockers at the height of the skinhead era, none of our local rivals really registered. I know Zulu ('the king of no mans land we used to call him :D ) will have similar memories to me. Blackpool? Joke.

I have mentioned in the past a well known TM face twatting a Leicester City fan (who was already on a St. Johns stretcher being carried out!) with a half house brick half a dozen times: 5 or 6 of our proper lads clearing a couple of hundred Hull out of there (Lever End) and a full on toe to toe with a mob of Derby fans who favvered Gypo's or fairground lads.

One of my personal funnier memories was a Villa fan around 1970 with the full uniform, Staprests - Brutus button down - cherry red Docs - Crombie - sharpened brolly - immaculate pork pie hat etc. They had had an early doors charge from the Paddock end of the Lever and were soon run back into that corner. This shithouse had been booting dings (Lever End slang for youth) and avoiding the big lads. As he ran past me, it was just instinct (honest, officer) to grab the pork pie and hide it in my Harrington. Soft twat burst into tears and 'went to get a policeman'. 'He's nicked me hat officer'. Copper just smile at me and said 'give it 'im back eh?'. I'd have been doing bird for similar in more recent times.

...and just for clarity, I was on about away teams at Burnden. As has always been the case, away matches always a different proposition. More fun guaranteed.

Sure I have mentioned before but one of the lads who was with KO that day is in the same scooter club as me.

In the mid 70's owt that happened in English football got trumpeted all around the world. Far worse happened in Brazil and Italy but no one gave a shit. Only the 'English disease' registered..

I remember Blackpool on the Lever End (though I thought it was a bit later than 73) They went on early but were easily shifted when Bolton fans arrived & the last few ended up pressed against the Burnden Terrace fence. It was then that a wooden toilet seat was frisbeed into them & flattened one of them.

The same lad came back in with a dramatic white bandage round his head but he was left alone.....oddly, it turned out he was related to a Bolton lad & he later came on one or two Bolton trips.

Did Bolton turn out good numbers against the red filth in 74/75 or did the Red Army rule the roost as they did in most towns ?

The Blackpool lad in the scooter club will no doubt remember the Red Army visiting Blackpool the same season ? I read some cuttings on it last night, where it said 1,000 united had gone on 2 specials the night before and wrecked blackpool. about 500 slept on the beach and made campfires to keep warm, bloody mad days by the sounds of it. before my era unfortunately

i saw the above incident last night quoted by some older blackpool lads. they always said burnden was trluy frightening. they mentioned the 76/77 season when they won 3-0 at burnden and segregation i'm sure was first introduced on the embankment. they said everything was being thrown at them before, during and after the match, then had the usual game of Bolton fans chasing them up Manny Rd

A night match at Millwall was too much for the Red Army that 2nd Division year. The big test of the season and they didn't show.

That and Chelsea were the only real time the Lever got took properly. The trouble was that in those days it really was a numbers game (apart from Millwall who always seemed to have massive 30 year old blokes in their ranks)

The average age of the bootboy back then was probably 17-18. Utd always had 4 times the numbers of anyone else and more blokes in their 20's. I was 14 at the time and after being twatted for the third time me and 3 other mates left the Lever end and walked back to the village. We were ambushed by three car loads of the cunts on Potters Brow and took another pasting.

Over the ensuing decades I used to get very cross when confronted with these types and this led to some terrible behavour on my part

That was mis 70s, 72/73 they turned up late and mobbed up near the cafe at the burnden terrace entrance, then all charged in together. Fare play to them they stood there ground for a while, but we had the numbers and better lads.

My first game was around 77 when i was 10,it was against Crystal Palace,I was in Embankment with a lad named Pongo and I heard my first racist comment (it made me chuckle)sorry.A palace forward was running at our goal and bloke next to me shouts (Teck his spear off him)

75 against the scum at Burnden I sat in the Burnden seats I was just short of my 11th Birthday, united were at the peak of there notoriety recently relegated and travelled in vast numbers it was unfortunately an unfair match, the lever end tried in vain to hold the fort it seemed wave after wave of reds were attacking the Lever end we were no match to me it felt that most Bolton fans had decided not to attend such was Uniteds reputation the few brave bolton lads on the Lever did there best but it was not enough, in sure some of the older lads who were on the Lever end that day can elaborate the experience of that terrible day.

That game is one of the reasons us fifty something year olds still hate the bastards with a passion

I have only seen the Lever End taken twice. Chelsea and United, both came across the pitch with big numbers, it was the only way they could do it as normally we could fight them back at the turnstile. Given that we were so out numbered on both occasions no option but to run and throw a few punches on the way.

didn't wolves win, too

i used to have a cracking view from the back of the burnden stand

i'm sure they did the length of the pitch gallop

it might have been the 'promotion failure' game or possibly sooner
