Carlos Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Do you know the club have backed down? Or is that conjecture? There's a big possibility that QQ withdrew, isn't there? Maybe we gave them a cooling off period. (joke). 60 people within hours, Stella Creasey got here from London, yet only 59 others bothered, indeed, many of those could have been passers by. Be interesting to see how many of your 4500 actually go to games. However, give yourself a pat on the back, as clearly that's all the protestors really give a shit about. Quote
birch-chorley Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I don't think they got it wrong though, it was the best deal on the table If folk get unstuck using these companies then blame them not the lenders The Golden Gate Bridge is the most popular suicide spot in the world, nobody blames the guys who built it for their deaths just like quick quid shouldn't be blamed for the stupid folk amongst us And if 4500 represents the majority of Bolton fans then who are the other 12,000 at the reebok every week before you even look at the stay at home whites I would like to see how many of the 4500 are actually Bolton fans and how many are screwed up nutters with a grudge against any large business such as banks, Starbucks, google, quick quid etc etc The folk who signed the petition should be ashamed of themselves! tomski Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Golden gate bridge makers boooooooooooooooooooooooo. Quote
Traf Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I don't think they got it wrong though, it was the best deal on the table For all we know, it might very well have been the only deal on the table, hence the board have very few options. Quote

Are you suggesting that many will have been duped into signing, as part of someone else's agenda? Quote
davidjack Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Gartside's statement saying they'd underestimated the adverse reaction and they'd "taken on board the feedback from the fan base" seems proof positive to me that the club have backed down. Not sure how you could read it any other way. Who knows how many of the 4,500 regularly go? I read a lot of the comments and most seemed to be active fans. They were certainly active enough to be arsed to register their reasons rather than the apathetic "what's the point, it's a done deal now anyway, stop moaning" brigade. On the 200 or 250k a year point, of course it's not peanuts, I'm just saying let's keep it in perspective in the context of debts of 130 million and players' wages of thousands a week. And I can't believe there wasn't a single other company in the whole world prepared to offer something similar. We seem to have found one in a matter of days to step in this week...and as far as I'm aware they're not getting it for free. Quote
Danny G Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Can you give a +10 at all? I'm already hunting down a Quick Quid shirt, it's top of my wants list alongside an Umbro Cambrian track top. As am I, along with the Blue 3rd Normid kit Quote
Big E Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I'm struggling to understand those who still seem angry that the club has backed down. They keep referring to the 60 people protest (organised within hours of the announcement when many were probably still unaware it had been made and/or were at work)...as though only those 60 had any issue with it and somehow hijacked the issue. They ignore the 4,500 who signed the petition, every politician of every colour, trade union, citizens advice bureau etc. Clearly then those who thought the deal was a good one were hugely in the minority, not the other way round. Some are still going on about the huge financial loss. Actually, given the club hasn't confirmed the actual figure none of us really know, but let's imagine it is the 200k a year bandied about, or even 500k over 2 years. Are you seriously saying we're so financially screwed that that amount is critical? That we have to stoop so low as to take the money from outfits like this one? Really? When we're about to write off more than twice that on Matt Mills? Do me a favour. The fact the whole fiasco (how much have we spent manufacturing shirts with quick quid on which now have to be binned?) has probably cost a lot more than 200k is Gartside's fault for agreeing it in the first place - and another reason why he should resign. To those who've held their hand up and said they got it wrong and thought the protest had no chance, thanks for your honesty. Hopefully what this has shown people is that as fans we do have a voice and if we're not happy with the way our club's being run we can do something about it. Fuck off Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I'm pondering why an aversion to every town and city becoming an identikit of another, from Bolton to Budapest to Bombay makes one a 'screwed up nutter'... It's a bit rum that Birch. It wouldn't surprise me if Quick Quid pulled the deal and paid a sweetener to walk away and keep quiet - allowing Garty, Cliffy and co. to save face by claiming a U-Turn. They (QQ) probably got more 10X the coverage/exposure as a result of the controversy than having the name on the shirt for ten years and with us in the Premier...Without looking, who were, say, Fulham's sponsor season 2009/10? Then again what I've wrote is probably, 99.9% likely to be total bollocks and supposition. As is most else wrote without inside info. Quote
davidjack Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 More thoughtful insight from you again? I thought this was supposed to be a forum where people shared opinions, views, banter...not resorted to personal abuse. Why don't you take your anger management issues somewhere else. Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Flog 'em on Ebay as rarities in a few years, like upside down stamps or copies of Abbey Road with 'Paul is a cunt' on the run-out etching. Quote

no balls Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Don't they just apply another heat transfer nb? I doubt any get binned. See, Tom, I wasn't going to bother but seeing as you asked The heat transfer probably hasn't even been applied in bulk yet. It is often shipped blank and then done in the Uk in instances like this. I'm not sure how much Mr. Jack knows about the fascinating world of sportswear though. Quote

I will do you a deal No Balls, you make me a Quick Quid shirt and I will sort your wipers for you. Quote

Ta, many moons ago I had an Inter shirt which changed sponsors at the front it was fiorruci, but if you turned it inside out you could see the outline for fitgar. Admittedly 20 years ago, but I was amazed to how this had been done ha ha. Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) Speaking of sponsors, the completely predictable and thinly veiled moves to sponsor the Barcelona shirt finally fell into place recently. It was obvious as soon as they put UNICEF on that it'd go down the corporate route eventually (Qatar Airways). The deal for this? £280k per season into the Nou Camp coffers - now what do you say to that 'No Quick Quid'ers? It's a 'talking' link if you're at work btw. http://soccerlens.co...airways/105452/ Edited June 7, 2013 by Youri McAnespie Quote
Carlos Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Not forgetting Garty doesn't read this forum due to us all being vile In short, he's one of the most loathesome cunts I've ever encountered. But to suggest that a "protest" where there were more media than protestors had any real impact on this is fucking laughable. Quote
