no balls Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I've had some pain for a while, but needed work anyway and so went yesterday. He only started drilling before the anaesthetic kicked in. Jesus Christ, that hurt! Anyhow, I've now been told by a doctor the pain is actually neuralgia. It'll be dentures & a walking stick next I reckon Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I need loads doing, dreading it, at least 4 fillings what I've neglected for months. It wouldn't be the same after a meal not gargling to get food out of cavities though, I'm used to it now Quote
Casino Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 like i've said 30 odd years between vists i've spent 49 quid 4 teeth out and just a filling to go shes raked all the badness out last time and its giving me a bit of pain now til it gets done Quote
Casino Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 reet i can now tick off root canal and filling along with extractions inc wisdom tooth and not a bit of pain which, considering i've been absolutely terrified is some going Quote
Carlos Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Doesn't really hurt much. My root canal job got infected and a ball of puss built up, that exploded and not felt a thing since. Quote
no balls Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) reet i can now tick off root canal and filling along with extractions inc wisdom tooth and not a bit of pain which, considering i've been absolutely terrified is some going I've been back today due to horrific pain & apparently have an infection caused from the filling, great. 2 lots of tablets, which is smashing when you're the only one pays for prescriptions in the chemist. He's mentioned possible root canal if this doesn't get betterer. Have I not to be scared then as I'm bricking it. Edited February 18, 2014 by no balls Quote
Casino Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 don't be, if my experience is owt to go off the worst was hearing the drilling absolutely no pain and like i said, i didn't go for 30 odd years, i was that scared Quote
Sweep Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I went yesterday as part of my inlay filling had come away, she then drilled a bit more and filled it in, I was in and out in the space of 15 minutes, didn't need an injection or anything, I was pleased as buggery especially as she didn't charge me. Anyway, eating a butty about half an hour ago and out comes the filling....fucking useless, I'm going to have to go back again and get her to sort it once more. I don't mind admitting though that I do cack my pants every time I go to the tooth doctors, it's one of the few things that really scares me Quote
Nobster Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Root canal treatment is agony, and even worse when you get the bill. Quote
Casino Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 i've paid 49 quid and ive had about 6 hours treatment and a white filling i cant find anything bad to say which is pissing me off Quote
no balls Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I'm on NHS too and he was really great today, saw me not long after I arrived & talked me through what has probably gone wrong. So no compaints here either. No ale whatsoever for 7 days though apparently on these tablets, which is poo. Quote

I broke a rear molar couple of years ago which had already been filled, so far 4 attempts at getting a filling to 'stick'. Next attempt will be to drill out some of the existing filling I reckon. Sweep Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 You don't pay again if a filling fails within 30 days I think it is. . Correct, although I've had this "inlay filling" for about 3 months, it cost about £300 so I told her I wasn't paying anymore for it, so she fixed it for nothing whilst I was having a general check up (which still cost me £18 anyway) As an aside, she suggested I come back next month to see the hygienist.......and that's about £35 to have my teeth scraped and polished, which seems a bit much Quote
Dr Faustus Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Google nhs choices, option there to search for services, inc dentists accepting nhs patients. Maximum cost will be limited in line with banding. All work will be guaranteed for x amount of time, i believe six months. Quote
no balls Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 It gets better. I've now got another wisdom tooth on its way. I'm forty fucking four! I wonder if there's specialist websites for adult teething rings Quote

Compo Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Try the one in H on Vicky Road. I'm registered there and I'm sure they were taking in again I reckon the place is a front though. I'm there too with yon egyptian bloke, best dentist I've had. Sorted my dodgy filling out today without an injection. His new assistant is easy on the eye too! Quote

Compo Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 He's probably the calmest person I've ever met, surprising as most times I've been it's rammed and it looks like he's the only dentist there. Quote
