Official Rugby League Thread

I'm assuming there isn't one already? Had a quick look and could find nowt. Makes sense to have an official thread since there seem to be plenty of egg chasing fans on here

Anyhow, this has just been announced:

Will be a fucking brilliant day out, that! Leigh had better make it there now (although if we keep sticking 52 past everyone we shouldn't have much trouble)

No promotion this year.

so the teams in leighs league are playing for fcuk all, then

may as well have used this year as one for preparation and developing players

no reason for trying to win the thing

Hang on

So Leigh won't be super league next season?

That's nonsense

that bit always makes me laugh

which presumably is a rare occurrence.

That's exactly what's been done in fairness as virtually the entire team are staying on next year and going full time.

3,500 isn't bad going at all with 200 away fans on a Friday night. Small steps and that. Tell you what though, it was absolutely bouncing at times, top atmopshere.

This year is about finishing top because we now get enough prize money to go full time next season which we need to be for when next years play offs happen against the bottom 4 super league teams. If we were still part time we wouldn't be able to compete.

If we finished third then the money isn't enough to go full time so in effect it's a two year development plan.

im sure the football bit of this would be better if we had somebody who wasnt just guessing

how much is the prize money?

Thanks for explaining.

My original questions weren't taking the piss, they were genuine.

So, is 3500 a good size of crowd, S?

Super League crowds at Leeds and Wigan are around 15k; Hull, St Helens and Warrington 10k; the rest down towards 6k, except Salford (4/5k) and London (2/3k).

So I would say 3500 for a (winning) team at a level below is fairly good.

The shake-up comes next season. SL is reduced to 12 and then the 24 clubs in SL and Championship split into 3 groups of 8.

The middle group are playing for 4 SL places.

My Leigh born and bred brother in law is a Leigh Stalwart. He is however one that insists Leigh is hated by the fraternity, especially since Lindsey was in his pomp. Conspiracy theories are two to the dozen once we are a few beers in. No idea whether there is any substance in his vitriol but he is passionate, Lindsey is and always was a creep though!

Ask him about the 1905 Challenge Cup match.

Leigh beat Wigan 3-0 in the first round.

Wigan protested about the eligibility of a player because he had not been at work for the week before the tie.

Match replayed - Wigan won 5-0.

They've not been friends since then.

We hate wiggin

Bi E's lot aren't doing very well so far.

Looks a good following from Cas

Widnes' best ever result at the LSV.

Great atmosphere, nearly better than Fridays match.

At least widnes didnt conceed their usual 50+ points at lsv.

And his Chester mob got panned yesterday.

Widnes RL supporters make BWFC fans look like einsteins

You should go for gartsides job pal

That middle group next year is going to be a bit tasty. One would presume Bradford, London, Leigh and a.n. other to qualify from the championship. I hope we (Salford) can avoid it...
