Medo stats show he made more tackles and interceptions than anyone in the championship last night.

 

Passing accuracy was only 55% though, which is piss poor.

 

Stats also says Zat Knight was immense!

Must of missed his shaky start, stray passses, hoofing up field and 50p headers. To be fair though his game picked up after he had a terrible touch then stretched for the ball nearly giving away a penalty and injuringing himself, thought his knee ligaments had gone tbh

As for last night, the tinkering/enforced change meant he was the only constant in a changed back four, which can't help the situation.

Its because we changed and went more positive we've pulled away. Why not carry on and pull away even more? Why revert back to what has put us in this position in the first place? It was working and great to watch. I am totally convinced that if we approached last nights game like the previous three we would have got a point minimum. I will take boring, we had key players out and were not at our best, sometimes you just have to be happy to dig out a point. Next season if we are to challenge at the top this type of resilient performance will be important to our chances.

agree to a degree, but it was more about the personnel available and how the managers went about setting the team out - not just this formation or that formation - that folk get frustrated about

 

every man and his dog could see that our strength in the squad we had under OC was that Muamba could be pivotal in a 4-5-1, or even 4-4-2 if he insisted on playing wingers, but he wouldn't - our best run in the relegation season came against Everton, Liverpool and Arsenal where we took 7 points out of 12 (lost to Utd) with 5 across the middle with Muamba in there and Ngog up top on his own

 

soon as we went 4-4-2 in the next game v norwich, when muamba came off for Davies, we crumbled

 

and the next game was Wigan when he dropped Muamba for Davies and we, unsurprisingly lost, we could all see it coming a mile off, except OC

 

now we have a manager who till recently didn't seem to have a plan a and tried something different every week - personnel, tactics, approach, shape, always changing

now I think he did right to set the team up like he did Derby to get a point there, but by the sounds of it,  it was fairly wank and back to the dross, in terms of performance, that we've been getting all season, except for when we've played 4-4-2 of late (including the blackpool cup tie as well) - had derby had their shooting boots on, it may have been a different story

The amount of arguments I had on here about that.

 

The very same people are saying we should be playing 442 and he's clueless for not.

The difference is that Coyle's 442 was just hoofing the ball up to SKD. This might have a place in football, against say Arsenal who don't like it up 'em, but is utter ineffective in the Championship. The key is having mobile players, total football.
