But didn't Colombia have the '86 WC taken away from them months/a year or so before it was due to start, and hadn't Mexico (the stand-ins) suffered a terrible earthquake just a year or so before they shifted it to there...

* A country the size of half of Wales or sommat accommodating tens, if not hundreds of thousands of fans - most of them wanting a jolly good piss up - in a dry Muslim country.

* A gross shortage of Lawrence of Arabia get ups* in the shops of Europe and The Americas (for travelling fans).

* Oh aye, some blokes have died of heat exhaustion building the things, but they were from Singapore or Africa or somewhere - so they don't count.

 

Give it to Morocco and Tunisia I say - whether they want it or not - then the Islamic World can't have a sulk, and it's a cheap and easy piss-up should England qualify...

Aye the stewards and police are really welcoming in Russia.

Olympics tickets getting in the wrong hands if I remember rightly and corporate/sponsors got a above normal allocation.

 

Our police are not as good as foreign police, they over react. Obviously I'm only going off tournaments I've been, qualifiers and friendlies abroad, but I've gone to most games and never even seen a copper, they only pop up at the right time.

PG's place on the FA Council was as a Premier League representative. Once Bolton were relegated he could not be re-elected.

Though, as it happens, the club does a representation on the Council through the Vice-Chairman being the representative of Lancashire FA.

I've said it before, the Madrid Police were not responsible for that incident - they bus them in from surrounding areas to police games in Madrid (I've been told - not 100% on this), so, if there's any shenanigans there's unlikely to be 'afters' or payback on the streets when they're in civvys (if recognised).

 

Note how they seemed to be pretty baton-happy with the Atletico lot too. 

 

I'm not a fan of the police overall, but in my dealings with the actual Madrid city police they've been alreet as mingers go...
