A link on another thread showing Nolan's goal against Arsenal got me thinking . . .

How many 'top' goals have been scored by unfashionable sides/players that, had they been Arsenal, Man U Liverpool etc, people would still be wanking themselves to death over?

Curcic's against Chelsea (IIRC) and Elmander's V Wolves spring to mind

Doesn't have to be Bolton goals mind

I thought the other goal in that game v Wolves was better.

Can't remember who scored it, Holden maybe, great passing move and slid it into an empty net.

Nolan's volley against Blackburn was Van Bastenesque, shame we didn't win though.

Got to agree. When you look at the height the ball came from and back over his shoulder. Best strike I've seen at the Reebok. Proper under rated. Technically superb.

Surely some of Matty Taylor's absolute rockets back in the day would be thought of as all-time great goals if someone like Rooney or Messi had scored them

Was that the moment you convinced yourself we were going to win the league? :-)

Mark Davies' late equaliser against Blackpool in 2010.

Tony Caldwell screamer away to Bournemouth in 1986. (we ended up down to 9 men and losing 2-1)

Eidur Gudjohnsen winner v Charlton in FA Cup Quarter final of 2000

Nicolas Anelka's first league goal for Bolton in 2006

John McGinlay v Middlesbrough at home in the Burnden Premier league season in 1995.

Sams header against Sunderland is the best header I have ever seen.

Stuart Hall's comment was 'He hit the ball like a flying wardrobe'

Great game - last really big crowd at Burnden?

Mixu v Reading at Wembely, the build up play is immense.

This was the one I thought of as soon as I read the OP.

Something like 8 one touch passes from one end to the other.

Extraordinary goal.

Crackin long range header, you'll not see better

I genuinely thought we had a chance.

The lads still take the piss out of me to this day haha

We'd just dicked Spurs and Newcastle at Reebok IIRC and we were playing some great football.

Those were the days.
