Back up and running next week. Practice run for the bus lane

·         On Monday 15th September, a full time lane closure will be in place (Manchester bound) on the A580 East Lancashire Road, between Walkden Road and Moorside Road, for approximately 4 months. Delays are expected during these works and road users are advised to use alternative routes where possible.

Went to Manc on the bus outside peak times going and coming back, fucking nightmare. I hope the Leythers appreciate this busway when it kicks in.

Presume they want to get it all sorted in the summer holidays. Brum has done the same this year and last.

Summer holidays are over

Roads are still fucked

Trying to get us back for saying no to the congestion charge

Wankers

25 mins door to door today, lots of cones ready for action though.

Average speed cameras are up on the M60.

Major problems at J15 right now.

I walk into work, set off at 7:45 at my desk for 7:56

Im working now and ive got me brew on the sofa it took me about 2 minutes from getting up, changing the lads nappy and letting the mutt out for her morning piss.

On the peasant wagon today, sounds like the motorways are fucked.

Well and truly fucked. One of the worst mornings for traffic I have seen for a while.

Someone told me a bloke was found on the hard shoulder between cowyed and Farnworth with serious head injuries so it was shut.

Rumour has it a bloke had topped himself on the tracks somewhere between Leeds and Victoria which was causing havoc on the trains on the way home too.

It's a right barrel of laughs this commuting lark!

Some daft cunt was sat at Entwistle station last week, sat on the platform. His legs ended up in Darwen.

Well and truly fucked. One of the worst mornings for traffic I have seen for a while.

And again today!

  • 2 weeks later...

Fun and games this week as the Lancs has been down to 1 lane with manual traffic lights!

Quickest way atm is through Kearsley.

·         Starting on Monday 13th October for approximately 3 weeks, bus stop improvement and refurbishment works will take place on the A580 East Lancashire Road near to the Eccles Road junction. A full time lane closure (Manchester bound) will be required at this location during this time. Delays are expected and motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible.

I did 3 miles in 45 mins last night from Manc City centre.

what if its not possible

who writes this shit

It's just one lane apparently. It shouldn't make a difference as it goes down to 2 lanes soon after anyway.

You wouldn't have thought so but it's made a difference taking it from 3 to 2 going the opposite direction at the same point. Tends to be those drivers not willing to wait an extra few mins so leave it until they have no where else to go before trying to switch lanes thus causing the flowing lane to break

Can't believe how worked up some folk over a temporary upheaval that will make the road network far better in the long term.

3 fucking tractors on the A59 yesterday. You Manchester types haven't a clue.

In what way, please enlighten us!

Oh how they laughed!

We'll see

Having reviewed this in reasonable detail and spoken with the Urban Vision people. They are expecting that the buses from Atherton, Leigh and Tyldesley will take many cars off the road and the smart traffic lights will mean that 2 lanes will be no worse than 3. I have asked for a copy of the analysis, which remains outstanding.

They confirm that the brains behind this are not the same brains who came up with the Chapel Street masterpiece.
