I am no expert on passenger jets or surface to air missiles so am happy to be proved wrong; but the idea that a pilot of a charter plane decending into Sharm airport saw a missile on radar and banked left to miss it seems pretty implausible to me.

Me neither, but air to air missiles are comparatively small and presumably manoeuvrable.

 

A surface to air missile capable of reaching the necessary altitude is one big cunting missile. Happen a pilot might be able to take evasive action

No way an airliner could be manoeuvred out of the way of the kind of thing that knocked the Ukrainian one out of the sky. In fact it wouldn't have a chance at 60,000 feet, never mind 30,000.

In yesterdays case, it was an Emirati registered, American built aircraft flown by a Cypriot and a Spaniard.
