August 20, 201412 yr Spearing gave the ball away too many times and I thought it was down to being shit, but how could he play any other way when he is surrounded by lower league plodders. At times he was miles from any other teammate and had to resort to trying passes the likes of Nolan and co would have made the most of but this lot have no chance of getting to. And I lost count of the number of times Feeney pointed to the huge space behind their fullback begging for a through ball only to watch it being passed back to the centre halves all within yards of Super Dougie watching. The man has no idea of his own game plan and to bring off the big centre forward who was doing well, and then 5 mins later put a big centre half in the same position sums up his ability.
August 20, 201412 yr OK the guy could/should have been sent off, but the pen was our first shot on target. OK their pen was soft but if you give a team 70% possession and let them walk through the first two thirds of the pitch there is more chance of soemthing unlucky happening in a dnagerous position. Ream is not good enough at left back. You can not play 2 wide men and then have Trotter as one of the two in the middle, he is slower version of tom huddlesstone but also not that good on the ball, Feeney is one dimensional and not that good at what he does, to be fair he can cross a ball but only gets there 2 or 3 time in a game (see 70% possesion) The Defence look dodgy but as we do not compete for the ball in the first two thirds of the pitch they are under constant pressure. Mason contributed nothing at all last night, so along with Trotter and Feeney we were playing with 8. Craig D puts loads of effort but is not very good, he could not get into Prestons team last year after he could not get into ours, do not want to slag him becuase he gives 100% but he is not the answer. We have no player with any pace in the team, and only CYL with any quality, even with him most of his good stuff is done in non threatening areas, but he is the one involved when we create something. If we do not sign at least a decent centre forward and a quality central midfield player we are DOOMED !! I know i am in a minority smaller than the 'Cliff has never touch a boy' camp but i think Medo alongside Spearing is our only decent central combination, Danns has to play for his energy. I would never play Trotter or Fenney again, given they are two of DFs signings I am afraid my paitience with him is out. I agree with all that apart from Medo with Spearing combination, has to be Danns and Spearing for me then once we have a better winger than Feeney (hopefully this Liverpool lad) then he is the only option as we're crying out for pace. Everything is so static
August 20, 201412 yr Highlights...still hard to judge the Wheater handball but the linesman seems sure.

Everything is so static I would also play Danns as a slightly wider player, not a winger but the position Medo failed to play v Forest, with CYL on the other side. A lot narrower than last night, but it hopefully gets players involved Feeny and Mason hardly touched the ball yesterday, CYL a bit more and did more with it. You can not let the opposition have 70% posession in a home game and expect to be anything other than relegation fodder.
August 20, 201412 yr For me, the bottom line is this. Whether the ref should have sent their defender off or not, we're 1-0 up at home with a minute to go before half-time. We were undoubtedly poor and once again conceded two soft goals.
August 20, 201412 yr Sat back with no pressing on the ball when they are already 10 yards inside our half for their 2nd.
August 20, 201412 yr We should just rename the thread to whatever team we play next as I can see this shit happening over and over and over again
August 20, 201412 yr did their keeper make a single save? There was a couple but he wasn't really troubled by them
August 20, 201412 yr On the plus side.......I thought McNaughton, Chungy & Craig Davies had pretty good games On the down side.....Ream is still not a left back, Wheater & Mills are 2 big lumps, Spearing can't find a white shirt, Trotter is rank average at best & I think Beckford's got his boots on backwards We actually played some good stuff in short spells last night & Chungy created a golden chance in the 2nd half after the best move of the match. Trouble is, most of the time we're either not on the ball, or we're lumping the shite out of it. Verdict: Mid:Lower table if we're lucky
August 20, 201412 yr Despite not playing that well so far we could easily be sat here with 6 points. Craig Davis header goes in against forest and Feeney takes that chance last night I reckon we'd have gone on to win both games. Not to mention they should have been down to 10 men. We need Mark Davies back in the team, and to stay in it. Not panicking yet.

Yes there were some poor things last night such as spearing and his inability to find a white shirt and the decision to take off davies over Mason was baffling But we played well in patches and we weren't blown away by boro by any stretch. August 20, 201412 yr I can't understand for the life of me why Danns is dropped every other game for me he is one of the first name on the team sheet, positives are we have Mark Davies to come back and I'd like to see Kellet involved and Wilkinson but we need to find that striker is there any chance of Scott Sinclair on loan?

Aye, other teams haven't missed chances against us, have they? We could have lost against Forest and had 0pts by your same logic. If my auntie had a cock, she'd be my uncle etc etc

August 20, 201412 yr Just an opinion, but we have the most average central midfield, no idea going forward, too far adrift from the front two, defensively allowing opposition midfielders to run past them, first instinct is to pass backwards or sideways, passing in general just poor
August 20, 201412 yr I had to chuckle when the ball got knocked down and in acres of space running at their defence was none other than wheater. That's where we need a Mark Davies running at them not a lumbering centre back
August 21, 201412 yr Don't be so negative. League 2 is a good 2 yrs away There will be some good away days though
