I'm sorry but Brighton are shit and we should of buried them twats. I have never known an opposition give us the ball back so many times, only for Spearing to insist on giving the ball back to them. What has happened with Medo too? Looks like he operates on another planet these days?

 

You just get the impression we know we can't defend and the team know what's coming as soon as we go a goal up. Midfield is the issue for me.

Just back & it was better than Watford . We had some good chances & could say Bogdan's injury cost us our point, but overall we couldn't really complain.

 

Plus point was White, whose distribution was hit & miss, but defended a lot better than his last showing at QPR.

 

Minus points were, Lonergan's jittery keeping which would have unsettled a good defence, Ream a liability again & Feeney very poor when he came on.

 

No complaints about the effort put in by any of the players, but there was a real lack of quality in our play. Hopefully Bogdan, McNaughton, Tierney/Moxey, & crucially M Davies will improve the team alongside the hardworking but more limited players.

Wish I could take these defeats and average/poor performances so stoically considering the money you've spent traveling to watch them, I'm sat here in Spain listening on the radio just knowing were going to concede goals even after taking the lead it's all so predictable and it's terrifyingly like a repeat of our early 80s demise and it's predictable we will drop another division in the next year or 2 unless someone at the very top of the club can shake kick and boot the lethargy surrounding the club into the long grass.

If we the fans shit our pants every time the opposition come forward because we know we can concede at any point,can you imagine what's going through the minds of the players?

That's what I thought about the Forest game, and to a lesser extent about the Boro game. It's not translating into effective teamwork though, neither attacking nor defending. And that's not the players' fault either.

ED is entitled to stop his spending.. & to try to make the club self sufficient, & i think we as fans have to accept that & stop thinking we have a god given right to be in the prem..we haven't.

 

Now...i stick with DF. He turned Palace around & built their promotion team....he turned Bolton around & saved us from relegation in his first season....he turned Bolton around after our disastrous start in his second season....& I trust him to turn it around again this season, hopefully when the better players are fit again. A big problem has been building teams dependant on loan players & when they have left we've struggled again.

If DF had spent  £10m in the summer I wouldn't be so patient, but he can only be judged in the context of the mess he inherited & the financial constraints he continues to work under.

 

The "sack the manager " crowd have named no credible alternatives who could do a better job working under our current difficulties, & the memory is still fresh of the last manager who saved us from relegation being forced out because " just staying up isn't good enough " or "it can't get any worse", only to be replaced by a manager 100 times worse, who caused massive lasting damage that we still haven't recovered from.

 

I believe that long term rebuilding without spending money is going to take time (whoever the manager is ) & i'm willing to give Freedman that time.

Aye....but this time last season we were all moaning about the lack of effort or commitment from a lot of our players. We now have players with better attitude but probably less ability ( & much lower wages ).Hopefully it's a small step forward.

He appears to have gone for quantity over quality.

I completely agree that we have a real lack of quality in our creative players....if M Davies could play 40 games we could practically build a team around him., but it's not going to happen. Unfortunately, like good strikers, good proven creative players cost money we probably haven't got.

 

Also, the knock on effect seems to be that the best part of our team,our  defence,-- without Lonergan & Ream obviously-- is going to struggle because the midfield failings put the defence under almost constant pressure, to the point like at Brighton where a goal conceded is inevitable.

I can't agree with this post at all...no surprise as I am clearly in the "sack the manager crowd"

 

And that's not down to thinking that we have a god given right to be in the Premier either

 

First of all I'm not convinced that DF really "built" Palace's promotion team

 

Secondly, if you will credit DF for the turnaround after the disastrous start on one hand, you must blame him for that start itself on the other surely? It's like when some fans were wanking over Medo's tackles....which constantly occured after he's given the ball away attempting a 15 yard pass.

 

You say you would be less patient if DF had been given £10m; why? His role is to manage and coach what we have as well as spend money. I appreciate that the role can be made easier with spending money for better quality players, but not having that money doesn't explain or excuse his ongoing bizarre decisions on team selection and tactics, or that players appear to be going backwards under him, or that we really struggled against Bury....who certainly haven't spent £10m!

 

Realism? I realistically expect a Manager to learn from mistakes - both season to season and game to game; there is little evidence that DF does this. So whilst the rebuilding process may indeed by difficult and lengthy, that fact doesn't mean that DF must be the right man for the job....

from what I can gather reading this forum, 10 games is the accepted write-off period to the season.

For me its quite simple. Dougie cant get the best out of the players he has got.

 

He also has no fucking idea what the best system is for the players and he has been working on it for 2 fucking years!

We have been dominated every game we have played this season. The other team has had more possession, chances, shots in every game.

 

Losing happens even to the best of them but the manner of the defeats is unacceptable. Im not expecting Brazilian football or even promotion but just rolling over every week is fucking boring.

 

We should be comfortable middle of the pack in this league at least but we have been arse raped by every team we have played so far.

I thought that this season was it.

 

Own players, special away camp in Denmark/Sweden, all gung ho until about 17 minutes into the first game.

 

Then pop goes the balloon.

 

Can't detect any settled team or tactics. Players don't seem to know what to do.

 

Probably had more than most managers in this league to spend on players and their wages.

 

100% of them would believe they could get more than 1 point from the first 4 games.

 

The jury is still out for me, but the foreman is about to clear his throat.
