Leyther_Matt Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Mowbray's statistically the best of that lot then, but iirc, his win ratio in the tinpot league was considerably less than... The right man for the job... Imagine that? I think we should get ready for a blindside, left-field appointment a la Begscum, John Sheridan anyone? Don't forget Mowbray's SPL ratio also includes two years at Hibs Quote
ohjimmyjimmy Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 From that Clarke thread: (but at least he uses a 'same old line up' ) 'As someone who backed Clarke i was saddened to see him go but not surprised given our form over this season , it's clear the players weren't performing and that just wasn't going to get any better. I didn't go to Cardiff but did watch the 90 Min's at home on my TV , i sat alone and tried to put myself in a positive frame of mind Pre match and i did think to myself " lets see some fresh faces as we have a big enough squad now"..sadly as the same old lineup appeared in front of me my heart sunk and i could guess what was to follow. As we know we sit far too deep , hoofing it (and not just to Long) plus the shocking amount of times we give the ball away..oh and the standard "attack when it's usually too late" as I've read a lot this week' Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 The more I read about the candidates the more I wish we had the money to go for Holloway. Quote

COYW Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 go and read some palace forums about how holloway took palace backwards from freedmans time Aye, it was shameful the way he got them promoted. Quote
gonzo Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Aye, it was shameful the way he got them promoted. Haha Yes what a bastard. Quote
Guest Blixa Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Aye, it was shameful the way he got them promoted. Promoted despite all his efforts. Quote
Zico Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Promoted despite all his efforts. maybe he was up against it after DFs team had already had their good run for the season before he left us either way Holloway got them promoted, too add to his list of championship promotions Quote

Guest Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Holloway would be an absolute joke. And not in a good way. I could live with Lennon, McKay, Clarke or Hughton. In fact assuming at least one of those will take the job then lets just get on with it. I doubt all four when it comes down to it will genuinely be interested but only 1 needs to be. Quote
oggybwfc Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) I've put a grand on wise at 66/1 Good luck getting paid out on that, when the bookie finds out how you're "Bessie mates with Gartside" Edited October 8, 2014 by oggybwfc Quote
COYW Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Holloway would be an absolute joke. And not in a good way. I could live with Lennon, McKay, Clarke or Hughton. Holloway has a better record than any of them in the Championship. Three play-off finals and two promotions. Quote
Casino Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 relegations? seeing as that s what we're most concerned about, right now Quote
Guest Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Holloway has a better record than any of them in the Championship. Three play-off finals and two promotions. And Clarke has a better record than any of them in the premiership. I don't think records come into it. Coyle had an excellent record before coming here but it counted for nothing. The longer a manager has been around and the more clubs he's done well at the more records become pertinent. But where we are it is about the right person to dig us out of a hole. Looking at how shambolic Palace were and how much of a transformation Pulis enacted there I don't think Holloway would be the man. Anyhow I think this sums it up for me. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1823597-ian-holloway-possibly-the-most-overrated-manager-in-history Quote
COYW Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 relegations? seeing as that s what we're most concerned about, right now He kept Millwall up last season. Quote
Alan Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I've put a grand on wise at 66/1 He's gone to 6/1 now Quote
frank_spencer Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Holloway can get fucked attention seeking rent-a-quote bumpkin cunt!! Apart from lennon or mckay I'd be happy with the others. Quote
Keith Lard Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Chris hughton the current favourite. I really do not want him here, not sure why because he's a decent manager. There's just something about him Quote
