pato Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Any manager who is available now has "failed" at a another club, it is a question of getting the right manager at the right club at the right time. The classic case is Rioch who built on the players Phil Neal had brought in but also had his own favourites he blended in to the side. If we could pick up a manager half as successful as him we'd be doing well. Quote
Naytch Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I'd be happy with Hughton, Mackay, Mowbray or Lennon Quote
Zico Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 aye, I'd be happy enough with Hughton, though Mowbray is my first choice after that, am not really arsed as I doubt I could be underwhelmed as the times we appointed Megson and Freedman, but, we'll see Quote
jules_darby Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Mowbray is my first choice We don't want that Melt-on his way here Quote

mickbrown Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I'd be happy with Hughton, Mackay, Mowbray or Lennon Aye, me too. Cue Gartside blind siding us with some Freedman-esque type bollox appointment Quote

Guest Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Someone just told me that Owen Coyle has applied Quote
Guest Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 If (big if) Nixon is right and the four most likely to get the job are Lennon, Clarke, Hughton or Mackay which would people prefer? Think I could live with any of the four. But I think Clarke would be my top choice. Seemed to be popular at West Brom with players and fans, finished 8th with them in his first season and I reckon he's a safe pair of hands. No controversy and having worked with Mourinho for so long at least should have some decent contacts in the game. After that second choice I'd go Lennon, because he seems to have some spirit and fight and we could do with that. I'd not be disappointed in Hughton, I just worry that he sets his teams up very similarly to Freedman. Same for Mackay really, he isn't an exciting prospect and there is talk of a football ban. I think he's too risky an appointment for us at this stage, but again there are far worse out there. Quote
jagermoot Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I'd Be happy with Lennon, but I'd also take malky. Not a fan of hughton, Quote

Biggish Dave Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Hughton, Clarke, Mackay, Lennon in that order for me but I'd be happy enough with any of them Quote
tylswhite Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Lennon talks absolute fucking shit. Would rather have any of the other 3 over him by a mile. I think Mackay is decent but ive just got a feeling Clarke would be a good fit. He is a decent coach and builds a good rapport with players which I think would suit us at this time. Quote
Con Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Mackay or Clark for me. Lennon too much of a risk. Hughton was hounded out of Norwich, so for that reason a no. Quote
glossopWANDERER Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) Someone just told me that Owen Coyle has applied would have him back as long as he cant bring his back room staff with him Edited October 7, 2014 by glossopWANDERER Quote
Blondi Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Malky is probably too risky and I'd doubt he'd come anyway. Lennon is also a big risk as he's only managed in a pub league. I don't think we need to look much further than Hughton, Clarke or even Mowbray for a decent championship manager that should keep us up and hopefully make us a half decent team again. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 would have him back as long as he cant bring his back room staff with him Have you been knocking about on the gollies with those glueys? Quote
Razaldo9 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) I don't think I'd want Clarke above the rest personally. Remember a lot of West Brom fans saying he was good initially when he inherited Hodgsons squad, but it was downhill from that and he would have taken them down. Not really the proven manager everyone thinks we need either. I kind of wouldn't mind any of the 4/5 being heavily linked, guess it's just getting the best fit as they all have their negative points. ex_midlandwhite Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Di Matteo has gone to Schalke, we should have snapped him up instead of taking this long. Gartside out, boooooo Quote
