COYW Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Indeed, he had been sacked by Blackpool not many years before joining us! After losing in the play-offs in their most successful season in years. Quote
COYW Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I don't really get people turning their noses up at Keith Hill. He hardly was disastrous at Barnsley. They were a side headed for relegation at some point. Since he left they've gone downhill. So how comes he ended up back at Rochdale then? Why were no other Championship clubs interested? Quote
radcliffe white Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Think some folk are getting us mixed up from the Bolton of 10years ago,and whoever comes in people will moan because the hardest job at this club is getting the fans onside. Quote
Blondi Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 It looks like Malky Mackay, Chris Hughton & Neil Lennon could be on the short list. I think Nixon said that the managers we're interested in are all available, so presumably, this could rule out Keith Hill. Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Ten pager on the ShrimpersZone about Phil Brown, One comment suggested Freedman wasn't good enough to apply Browns fake tan, Anyhow some are worried he will leave them Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Let's not get excited Hill isn't coming BWFC are on a different planet to a Keith Hill. Quote
Garrp Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Think some folk are getting us mixed up from the Bolton of 10years ago,and whoever comes in people will moan because the hardest job at this club is getting the fans onside. Well said. This is a big part of the problem, people need to remember where we are. We're no longer in the position we were when Allardyce left, we're need to get to grips with what we are again. we're a middle of the road championship club our aim this season is to stay up and gradually improve year by year with a long term plan to get back to the premier league. not next season, probably not the season after and maybe not even the season after that. we're building from the bottom again, we need players with re sale value and build and build. the process for appointing freedman was the correct one, it never worked out, tough shit, it doesn't mean it wasn't the right way to do it. with that in mind i hope its the same process again. young manager with lots of potential with a good record of bringing through kids. not some 'experienced' manager just because he has twenty clubs on his cv Quote
Casino Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 It looks like Malky Mackay, Chris Hughton & Neil Lennon could be on the short list. using your logic theres hundreds of managers who could be on the short list Quote

Zico Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Can't see him leaving what you'd presume is a well paid coaching role at qpr to come to us Quote

mickbrown Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Which out of work managers does Mark Curtis represent? Quote
COYW Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Can't see him leaving what you'd presume is a well paid coaching role at qpr to come to us I can. I think he'd jump at the chance to manage us. Don't think he'd be under consideration though. Quote

Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 so we rule out all young managers because Freedman never worked? Not because Freedman didnt work but because we can't risk getting someone in who has no track record if he's young with a good track record id take a look, one that falls into that category might be Phil Parkinson. If you doubt my thought process I will give you the name of Kenny Jackett he's doing a similar type of job to what we need hes served his time plenty of experience at this level and just the type we need. mickbrown Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Garp - we went down that route in the 80's. All but destroyed us. Quote
Garrp Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Garp - we went down that route in the 80's. All but destroyed us. What relevance has that got? We shouldn't have appointed Allardyce then Megson was 'experienced' loads will have you believe he almost ruined us. Quote
Guest Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 So how comes he ended up back at Rochdale then? Why were no other Championship clubs interested? Why did nobody else want Allardyce? Why did Watford sack Dyche if he was any good? We are bottom of the championship 5 points adrift of safety and without a pot to piss in. Practically we are only going to get a manager that other clubs at our level haven't gone for. Quote

This aint a job for a kid who likes to piss about with the youth players. We need a bloke who knows the game inside out, who has connections all over the game. Megson? Not me - Megson kept us up, no mistake Allardyce? He had loads of experience when we got him. He's had 10 years of coaching/managing by the time he came to us.
