  • I've got nothing in common with people who've taken pleasure in our decline. Zero. People who've done nothing but knock the club for years. They can fuck off. I'm not pulling together with them now, o

  • Obviously this had to happen, but I'm genuinely gutted it didn't work out with Freedman. Wherever he ends up, I wish him all the best.

So the alternative was to carry on?

Bolton, spammy lee excepting, tend to give their managers more time than most. IMO Coyle and Freedman would have been fired 12 months sooner elsewhere.

You see, this is the problem.

It had probably reached the point where it had become untenable. I've tried to defend Freedman at times, but even before kick-off on Wednesday, his team selection made me think "WTF?"

Having said that, I can't understand all the optimism - simply changing the manager isn't going to help unless the new man is someone who has a definite plan for the future and is backed (both with money and time) to implement it. And I don't see that happening.

So there'll be an appointment - possibly from within, on the cheap, possibly someone currently unemployed but "sergeant-majorish" - the popular opinion being that we've got to go for someone with the opposite characteristics to the last man (happens with England managers as well...) Billy Davies or whoever. They may well get a few results initially, but they'll start to dismantle Freedman's set-up and implement their own. And that'll take a couple of years, by which time, they will have gone past their honeymoon period and people will want them sacked. Rinse and repeat forever...

But the attitude seems to be "Things are bad - SOMETHING MUST BE DONE! Doesn't matter what - just do something..."

Pleased he's gone but to echo a few on here wish him all the best. It was a tough job he just wasn't up too. Clean slate for everyone for me and hopefully we pick up.

Garty has to get the right man this time and it has to work. Come on Phil pull off a masterstroke please!

And this is what I mean about naivete.

It has to be the right man, yes. But they need to have a vision for how to proceed, the players and staff need to buy into it, and, above all, they need to be backed.

Simply thinking that because Freedman's gone everything is fine is silly. And simply thinking we can put in "the right man" and carry on as before is staggeringly naive.

But hey - the bad guy's gone, the good guys have won and the next messiah is riding over the horizon on a horse. Is than John Beck, I see...? He'd be cheaper than Mixu Paatelainen anyway.

Go back to sleep lennie..

Can we just be glad he's gone rather than, as some seem to be doing, having a pop at those who've been calling for it to happen. They're not the ones who got us in this mess and nobody I know has taken any pleasure in any of this. If you're a fan, how could you?

Even that shite winger we had gregg wylde is having a pop now.

Rioch won promotion in his first season. Allardyce won promotion in his second season. Neither spent massive amounts of money doing so. If you appoint the right manager, they tend to get the right results.

Another ex player chipping in , they can't all be wrong can they??

Some Bolton fans didn't know what was going on behind the scenes at the club the way he treated me personally and also others wasn't nice !!

Another ex player chipping in , they can't all be wrong can they??

No, it's opinion, there is no right and wrong. He went to Aberdeen who also fucked him off, theme here, it's all Dougie's fault they aren't playing for Barcelona.

I for one really dont care what chub end players with an axe to grind with the club say. If any of the current players raise their head above the parapet then fair enough. Im just happy he's gone and we can all move on.

This is , after all the mon who was tweeting that Aberdeen was a bigger club than us when he left.

Lawrence and Fleming are still hanging on? Fucking hell cull the talentless duo

All the best to Dougie now he's gone but anybody looking at his post match comments

could see he had illusions of granduer.

He was NEVER at fault. Always just 'unlucky'.

We can never do worse than him.

We can never do worse than him.

Be careful, be very careful
