If the job was done he wouldn't be going anywhere. The fact is we are the worst team in a shit league under him and he lost the plot. Job definately not done. Let's hope someone can come in and sort out his mess in time to save us from the third tier.

If you read the post I was replying to, and then my reply, you'll see that he did a job here. 

 

And considering he couldn't take us any further, moving on is best for both parties. Getting Bolton relegated would not look good on his CV. He's still young enough to have a management career after this as it currently stands.

 

Now we need a guy who can get these shit players playing like a team, at least enough to stave off relegation.

Repairing the massive damage that Coyle did to us was always ( & maybe still is ) going to take a lot of time that you're unlikely to get nowadays.

 

Seems to me that DF did all the dirty work for us - saved us from relegation first season..

 -cleared out Coyle's deadwood shite & replaced them at a fraction of the cost whilst retaining our championship place..

 -made v large financial savings & balanced the books to comply with FFP

-recruited more promising young players & started to blood young players into the first team squad.

This makes sense with two Iles comments - 'the article was ultimately the straw that broke the camels back'

 

Also... The announcement tonight about the new staff was made to sky but local media were snubbed, could that be because of the article? The club saw their arse?

i think there was always a board meeting planned for this morning but issuing a business as usual statement shut dearden and iles up for a day to allow it to play out without outside pressures

Whoever comes in let's just hope they can get it back to basics on the pitch. From the moment he came in dougie has over complicated everything. It's not sour grapes, he seemed like a nice enough chap but I don't buy into the positive spin put forward about the off the field stuff.

This to me is where Freedman fails as a manager, how he speaks about the players, I am sure a psychologists would have a field day analysing with some of the stuff he comes out with, as it must be demotivating and demoralising for the players hearing snide comments and digs time after time.

 

I know the players get paid loadsa of money so always have that gun against their head; however if we accept that BSA got more out of the collective through his approach then it is also feasible that another manager could get less than the sum of the parts through their 'management style', and that is where I think Freedman was at. The constant sniping at 'unamed' players and criticism of the squad must have not made it the greatest place to work I would imagine.

 

And while the players are not entirely blameless I believe they do care & try hard to get results; so a new manager who can instill confidence and belief will get a lot more out of them than Freedman could manage.

I think his methods may actually be too fancy to succeed at this level or below (which is where he will surely need to rebuild)? Maybe if he took over from Sam his ideas on football may have bore more success than this time due to the quality of player working with.... Big if I know and we could have dropped a lot quicker than we have but trying to see a positive in why his style could work but didn't here

No doubt sprinkled with conjecture but all in the garden is not rosy it's bloody worrying and pushes me further to wanting Phillips sounds like there's deep issues at the club and this Fullerton chap lauded by many on here looks to have rattled a few! If they don't like discipline then Rioch won't work! But I think if you're walking round giving it the big I am and the results are woeful it would rub people up the wrong way

Agree with this completely. But probably the case at most prem and championship clubs Id guess now.

You see, this is the problem.

 

It had probably reached the point where it had become untenable. I've tried to defend Freedman at times, but even before kick-off on Wednesday, his team selection made me think "WTF?"

 

Having said that, I can't understand all the optimism - simply changing the manager isn't going to help unless the new man is someone who has a definite plan for the future and is backed (both with money and time) to implement it. And I don't see that happening.

 

So there'll be an appointment - possibly from within, on the cheap, possibly someone currently unemployed but "sergeant-majorish" - the popular opinion being that we've got to go for someone with the opposite characteristics to the last man (happens with England managers as well...) Billy Davies or whoever. They may well get a few results initially, but they'll start to dismantle Freedman's set-up and implement their own. And that'll take a couple of years, by which time, they will have gone past their honeymoon period and people will want them sacked. Rinse and repeat forever...

 

But the attitude seems to be "Things are bad - SOMETHING MUST BE DONE! Doesn't matter what - just do something..."

So by that reckoning, every club who have sacked their manager in the last few years have not improved their fortunes!!!?

had they given it Jimmy and we lost (due to no prep time) it would give the next potential manager the worst start ever, I wouldn't want a "job trial" in those conditions...

We shall see today if there is a change in the players attitude. I'm not expecting much from today but I am expecting those players to show they have gots some guts and get us out of the shit.
