I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

very odd behaviour from Spurs fans today.

We have an outside chance of qualifying for Europe. That means beating a team that potentially let's Man Utd win the title.

No way am I hoping that we get beaten.

Tore into one Spurs fan who kept shouting that they should throw the game

Quite rightly so.

He's right though.

Ferguson, Winger et al engendered a winning mentality. No doubt spiky too, but perhaps necessary to create the ethos.

Thought it was embarrassing that spurs fans were singing 'are you watching arsenal' when they were losing

Whilst, on the face of it, it looks very embarrassing, it's also impossible for us to understand the mindset of fans in such a situation.

We've never been in a position where our natural rival is going for the league title for the first time in a generation.

I think that's horse shit.

Not difficult to put yourself in that situation, then decide what is more important to you.

Wouldn't it matter that you have a chance of qualifying for the champions league?

I’d love it. The fact they’ll of been rimming you all week and you then just shrug your shoulders and go meh

I'm sure, given the choice between Champions League and an Arsenal title, or, Europa League and a City title, any Spurs fan will take the former

but they're on a shite run and have blown it after a bright start, and once they went behind that was that, they weren't qualifying for the CL anymore

and only then did they start on the Arsenal stuff

it's not like they were singing it at kick off or shouting c'mon city at 0-0

and there way of masking their dissapointment or what have you was to remind Arsenal this is not good for them either

They still had a chance of qualifying, albeit slightly.

That notwithstanding, I'd still want us to win, whether or not there was anything hanging on it.

OK, a defeat may be softened by the knowledge that it affects your rivals, but that's only after the event.

Don't know what the repercussions will be for Spurs, but there may be folk there who view the future elsewhere, at a club with a more positive mentality.

Its not something I would do and whilst they are 1-0 down to City and unlikely to come back to win or maybe draw, you never know

Maybe have a wry smile afterwards but during the game? Not for me

Fair enough.

I think he completely misunderstands the level of feeling and rivalry between the two clubs down there.

Patronising drivel.

As football fans we all understand the passion felt within the game.

If you're prepared to want your team to lose so your rival also suffers, then perhaps you're not the fan you think you are.

I live amongst plenty of Spurs and Arsenal fans

Bloke who drinks in the same pub is an ex Spurs notright and have had conversations about scraps he's had with Arsenal and whoever (he actually rates us)

Anyway asked him about this prior to the match and he reckoned that no Spurs fan should ever want their team to lose even if it advantaged Arsenal

That's obviously only one fan's opinion but one I agree with
