I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

No doubt about that!

Wonder where a manager would stand: always looks good with trophies on a cv?

CL qualification did Unai Emery a lot of good recently. I will be surprised if he doesn't win a European trophy for Villa within five years. I just don't think it will be the CL trophy. The likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City would seem to be insurmountable hurdles. The Europa League though? He's sort of made it his speciality.

There's gaps opening for the likes of Villa at the top of the prem.

Transition for Liverpool, Chelsea and United. Spurs are Spurs.

City and Arsenal will continue to slug it out like.

I like the way Villa are looking.

on the CL, its probably way stronger than it was when it was one per country

it def hasnt weakened the competition

Arsene Wenger used to say finishing top 4, and qualifying for the CL, was a trophy.

FWIW, I'd much rather actually win something ... but I'm sure fans who are used to CL footie would have a different viewpoint.

Conference league is ace. I think it’s a great competition with a chance to win a trophy.

Hopefully something for us to aspire too one day

They need to spend a big chunk of their CL money on a top class striker to partner Watkins

Bring back the Anglo-Italian Cup

Entertaining start to this final.

As a fully paid up member of AEK whose stadium this is in, I hope olympiakos lose and they disinfect the seats afterwards

I can't imagine it has gone down too well them playing there?

Noticed the referee has done a Clattenburg and has tattoos of the Euro tournaments he's been involved in.

Certainly not with AEK fans

Though just outside the ground you have this which is typical of eastern European football

I doubt Olympiakos fans popped in for a quick pint

This their little tifo making hut/battle planning bunker? What's your link with AEK?

I fancy watching a game over there some time but would probably perish in the heat.

My other half is Greek and whilst she is a Watford fan she comes from an AEK supporting family

It's pronounced IKE and not A-E-K and there's no Athens in the name, they don't like that

I was there in October last year and went watching them v Ajax in the Europa League

Had to pay £10 to become a member just to buy a ticket (Neil Hart take note)

Where do Panathinaikos fit in?

Do all 3 hate eachother equally?

Yes

olympiacos and panathanikos is the main beef but AEK fit in nicely for a 3 way

Was about to say it's pretty mad having 3 top teams in the same city then realised how many there are in London :)

....now I'm thinking its pretty mad how many top teams come from one city with London. Never really thought about it before but it's like no other city in Europe surely. Off on a tangent there I know :D

Those two are the main ones

AEK have sneaked in and with recent league wins puts them in the mix

Olympiakos aren't really Athens if being pedantic

Everyone on here has birds from lovely sounding places. Greece....Italy.... Leigh...

Puts my Larne supporting Belfast bird to shame.

Olympiakos ground for some reason has a Maradona graffiti

Banksy must be shitting himself

Aye

Wiki tells me down to the conference 17 pro teams in London

3 in Madrid, 4 if you include getafe

2 in Rome? (There's some dead small regional sides too)

Same with Paris,2 but regional ones

Anyway

I can't be arsed checking any more but no one is coming close to London

The bigger problem is just hating clubs from other Balkan countries

An AEK fan got killed in fights with Zagreb fans, postponed the game this season

There's a memorial outside the ground to him even though he was a not right
