As you say, what is the point otherwise? Everyone wants to see success, and I'm sure the vast majority of players want to achieve it.

I'd like to have that problem!  When was the last time we were so irritated, 15 years ago?  Millwall have great seasons every year and aren't as big as us in theory, PNE and Bristol City similar, watching decent players and punching above their weight with memorable home and away wins against bigger clubs.

It doesn't have to end with a Norwich/Burnley/Sheff U/Ipswich/WBA type of season in the Prem to be enjoyable and worthwhile.

That enjoyment completely disappears if there is no intent to push on and try to get up.

Not a single one of those clubs you list won't be trying to go the next step, and their fans harbour that hope.

How many chairmen have ever come out in an EFL club and told their fans they have no intention to try and go the next step?

I agree, I wasn't thinking of a scenario where there was no intention of challenging to go up.  I just meant if we couldn't get over the line for 10+ years, given how difficult it is to compete with the ex-Prem clubs, I wouldn't find it boring (unless the football was like that under Parky or Dougie). 

It would be miles better than playing in this turgid division.

Wednesday fan at work was always telling me what a great coach Rohl was.  They'd come in at half time having been all over the place and he'd transform them for the 2nd half.  Just seen evidence of this in the Glasgow derby. Rangers were shocking in the 1st half. He subbed Asgaard, changed their shape and they tore Celtic apart in the 2nd.

Celtic capitulation at home to Rangers surely has to be the end of Wilfred Nancy?

He’s now won 1 out of 8 and some pundits were saying “well he’s not had much time with the team” - but Martin O’Neill who preceded him was thrown in with zero time and won 7 out of 8 so I can’t see that excuse getting much traction.

Fans already calling for O’Neill’s return. Understandably.

They are still there thanks  to MO - but the comments were those of the fans and within the context of the club’s expectations, previous manager’s performance and losing to the Huns at Celtic Park.

As we speak, there are hundreds of fans gathered at Celtic Park calling for the board to be sacked.

Perhaps they are the ones who should be aware of your comments? Maybe the board shares your viewpoint?

Well I think St. Wilfrid is doing an excellent job. Hoping they offer him a contract extension.

The ones that really matter- top 2 (or 3)

We're gradually falling away again after closing up.

We've also only beaten one of those three, despite all being at home, where we have been strong.

Our consistency away from home doesn't bode well for the return games.

I didn’t say that though did I.

Otherwise I would have said those sides in the top 3.

I said those around us. Two shit draws and performances and we’ve not moved.

The top 3 pulling away is a different conversation. They currently (and unfortunately for us) are indeed in good form and have consequently pulled away from us.

Lets hope they run into some bad form soon - like you say, shame we have to hope for this, as we don’t seem to be in a position to sort this out ourselves at the moment.
