I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Blackburn's league title win is worth just as much as any other teams title wins, only bitter people think otherwise.

Correct, some say they "bought" the title, but the current champions at that time (Man Utd) actually had a team that cost more.

Every team that wins the league, spend money.

or alternatively reminds us what a set of whining cunts Liverpool fans are.

Personally, I think two things have got confused with this Liverpool protest.

Firstly, I don't think anyone is in disagreement that ticket prices have risen across the board in the Premiership so that it is now unaffordable for a lot of ordinary fans.

And this upsets people as well when they see the TV money streaming into clubs. Quite understandably.

However, what the Liverpool fans have failed to grasp (or rather willfully ignore) is that the £77 top price for a hospitality seat for a handful of games a season is just dynamically pricing the stadium to ensure the club can generate the most they can from match day sales. The £77 price tag is for the best seats against the top opposition. Some people can afford this, and will pay. 64% of the rest of the seats have actually dropped slightly or been frozen - meaning that for most, there will be no change whatsoever.

They would be the first to complain if they weren't competing for the best players in the world. By making those who can afford pay, and thereby essentially subsiding a lot of the other seats, is a good idea. The £9 local ticket initiative for example.

What the Liverpool fans have done is grab a headline - club raises seats to £77, and yes some people (a very small percentage) will be affected and have to move; but they've not looked too much at the detail, which some that Liverpool are pretty progressive in making seats affordable.

If you are walking out to protest against the overall greed of the Premiership, players, owners etc they personally, that is a valid point to make, that fans are the real heartbeat of football. However, I wouldn't conflate this with a club trying to manage its revenue in a pretty responsible manner.

Is it the thin end of the wedge though?

A fans protest at general greed, if it does happen, will start somewhere.

Is it greed though, when the club are really looking at effectively a Robin Hood style policy to subsidize the ticket scheme that don't make any cash?

You could argue that the club have a moral obligation to make the most out of those that can afford to ensure the club continues for everyone as an ongoing concern?

I just think they've mixed two things together here and therefore the point is a bit muddled.

it was specifically about the ticket price hence the leaving on 77. As Crawley says, it was a very small percentage of the tickets on sale. The massives did this too a few years ago. Do they want to be pushing for the top spot, do they want the best players there? What are there expectations? Are they expecting all the money come from Sky & rich owners? Fans need to look at themselves too but we know Liverpool fans never do.

I'd agree if the TV money wasn't so huge. The gate receipts ( or changes) aren't really going to make much of a difference. I accept its only a small number of seats, but if next time it was an increase in a bigger section, then you might get to the point where not everyone can relocate to cheaper seats as there's not enough.

Wenger said recently that the extra money in the game will just go to players and agents.

I know with it being Liverpool fans it clouds the water, but it would be nice if all clubs reached some agreement where a percentage of the extra revenue is set aside, to keep all prices affordable.

I now it's naive, but it would be nice to see.

Paul Clement sacked at Derby

This with big fucking ding dong bells on it.

Saggers and Stan covering ticket prices at the minute.

Some of the pisstakes at some clubs are a disgrace.

Spot on. A Liverpool fan just said the same thing on TalkSport actually, although he wasn't a scouser so he probably hasn't got the victim gene.

Derby must be panicking now  that having spent loads of money they are going to miss out on promotion. Fifth in the league, 4 points off automatic promotion places and Clement gets sacked . Madness

They wouldnt walk out on 77 mins against Man United.....dicks

The tickets over all have been reduced in many parts....

Stanley is in full on rant mode tonight!

Always makes me laugh when he tells Saggers he will only talk for ten seconds then he's still listing stuff about half an hour later

when they had their protest at ticket prices at Hull last season it was towards the end of the season and they were out of the title race

Bet if it was the season before they wouldn't have done

Spot on, think the week after that Hull game, Newcastle failed to sell all their alocation at anfield, at £55 a pop.....they got ridiculed by Liverpool fans.

I'm hoping Boro go same way, the money they've spent would come back to haunt them if they didn't go up. I'm praying.

The potential riches of the PL have tempted plenty to go overboard on spending.

If they get promoted but fail FFP they can afford the fine, but if they miss promotion a transfer embargo looms.

did you see the tale coming out of derby, though

promotion wasnt one of their main aims according to the chairman

it was to develop and add to the squad

normally id take this with a pinch of salt but its got me thinking

massively overspend to rapidly accumulate players

so aye, youre under a ban but youve already got the players

I actually agree with a lot of stuff he comes out with, but can't be arsed with the aggressive way he speaks. I mostly end up just turning him off.

They should pay Andy Todd to sit in the studio facing him, and get him to put a finger to his shushed lips every time Collymore goes off on one.

That Saggers is a cunt too. In fact, every fucking person on Talksport is a cunt.

except Paul Hawksbee, he's alright.

retard radio for retards

arent we about to get talksport 2

I like talksport. The only one that does my nut in is Andy Jacobs. The charging of tickets is ridiculous in the top flight, not going to knock Liverpool for doing the walk out.

I'm sure I'll get to a point when it becomes too much for me to afford/value but I'll just walk away and do summat else

Talk Radio. Launches in a couple of weeks. Jonathan Ross' brother and George Galloway being touted as the "highlights".
