I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Said it was aimed at Walker.

well definitely no issue then,.

just seen the long range camera angle, not a chance in a million he can get done for that

Sad when the main talking point of an England game is a jumped up no mark who's career will probably finish trophy-less making obscene gestures.Had a glimmer of hope with big Sams appointment thought he may at least get the players to look interested and want to be involved,I honestly think most of them would rather be elsewhere. My answer give it back to amateur players selected by a panel convinced they could see of the likes of Malta, and you would get 100% effort and the same trophy haul as the toss pots who turn out now .

And that's after 2 wins!

Yup. Too many non bwfc games on now. Got told the premier league want to move games to 7:30 on Saturday evenings now for more Tele. I'm not sure I ever want to get back

Suprised we're not where Spain at yet where no games tend to get played at the same time just one after the other

they even have separate time slots on the last day of the season where you might get two games on at the same time but not all of them

What England need is a serious managerial appointment, Southgate has had one proper job and was sacked by Middlesbrough.
I genuinely doubt whether the current England manager is any better than Parky.

Said similar to my old man yesterday. There's managers across the leagues with more experience and pedigree than Southgate. His appointment was a joke and complete bottle job after the knee jerk reaction to get rid of sam. They didn't want him anyway.

I have no idea what we are trying to be? I'd get behind a young dynamic manager trying something new, or an old pro like sam building a team to win games.

This guy is in between somewhere. No philosophy or any kind of style.

A decent team would murder us. If we qualify we won't make it out of the groups.

That squad of shite need someone to get into their minds. Southgate isn't the man for that.

There's an argument that managing the U21s prepares you better than club football.

I doubt Lopetegui's lack of top class experience will hold Spain back.

Not if the under 21's are littered with players the will ever see a tournament and end up playing for Watford.

The system is flawed. I couldn't understand if he'd had loads of success and nurtured a crop of players to the next level and now he can carry on. Our top players by pass the under 21's and below to piss about playing friendlies in Japan.

Aye, agree with the last bit. To a fair extent, though, international football at every level is about working with what you've got. Club football allows you to look all over the world to fill gaps in your squad.

At least managing the u21s usually involves experience of tournament football.

Aye, be nice if the players got involved too.

Can't really put my finger on it, but there is something lacking. Individually, there are some decent young players, but put them in an england shirt and it doesn't quite work.

I still can't help feeling that club football, and rivalries between teams somehow inhibit the formation of a really good team.

Look at Germany, yes they have stars, but somehow there leagues are understated and lower key when compared to the premier league, and its be all and end all, top of the pedestal image.

Put the German players together, and they gel, sometimes start a little slowly at tournaments but usually do pretty well.

England simply don't.

The FA is arrogant and massively flawed, look how Poland and Swiss have played the rankings so they end up seeded for the WC and we risk being in another group of death due to lack of professionalism.

Since Southgate took over not watched a single England game

John motson retiring at end of the season

Trying to think of some memorable bolton motson moments.

Drawing a blank though

Was thinking same. Can't remember anything.

Remember moston covering our first game against united at the reebok.

He mentioned that people were concerned about the atmosphere not being the same as burnden, but how wrong could they be!

Love this comment

Then there was Tony Kelly. When we arrived he was out of condition but we whipped him into shape,

I'd say he was half right ;)

Says 'regret' wasn't the right word re. leaving but off the record I reckon he would look back and wish he'd made more of a stab at it.  Couldn't blame him then and still don't but . . . hey ho, didn't exactly fade away did we :)

Might have imagined it but sure Dave higson interviewed Motty after one of our 90s cup giant killings.
