HI Ani, having lived in France the french take this far more seriously than we do. Racist chanting , gestures etc under French law can set you back 3 years in jail and/or a large fine. Lets forget all the stuff written above, if you go to a foreign country, you must be aware and respect their laws, the small minority of Chelsea lads were dumb, but it could cost them dear. I suspect this will run and run as it seems the French criminal system is now looking at this.

In this country already an offence with attract a harsher sentence if it is judged to be racially motivated. This, to me, is a nonsense, the crime should be punished not the reasons behind it.

 

Race relations in this country have come on leaps and bounds since I was a kid, we don't need any more legislation.
