SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Who's our backup keeper then, should Bamos pick up a knock? I'm sure we have a youth keeper or two, and we can always bring in emergency loan keepers if we are really stuck. We're not really in a position where we can have two quality players for any one position any more. We just have to hope for a less injury-plagued season. Quote
leef78 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Anyone who genuinely isn't worried about our situation is kidding themselves. Owner wants out won't invest any more and we therefore have no money to play with. Nobody wants to invest the serious sums required. And the two most advanced proposals have fallen through. We aren't playing the transfer game of waiting till the last minute or bargaining. We are broke and unless someone puts money in we will go with what we've got and fight relegation again. Heskey on TalkSport sports bar this week and said he'd agreed a contract with Bolton and would be joining them pre-season shortly. Quote
Rembrandt Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 We have a few pre-season games with non-league clubs. I'm sure we can pick up a few players from there. Quote

I think there's a sensible position inbetween having 2 top quality keepers and chucking in a young kid or depending upon emergency loans then hoping. Quote
Guest Blixa Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I think I'm missing something here. Has every other club done all their transfer dealings? I must have missed that avalanche of moves. Quote

Ross Fitzsimons is 21, more than old enough to play as cover if injuries happen. He has already been on the bench for the first team on several occasions. Fine on the bench once the season is essentially over. Quote

Hate to be the one to have to point this out to you... but we are essentially broke. We need to make cutbacks, and I'm saying that's an easy area to make a cutback. You can easily loan an emergency keeper, there are rules in place for that kind of thing outside of the transfer window. That's not the case with every other position. Quote
Carlos Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Thank the fuck you aren't running the show, that's all I can say. Quote
Blondi Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 No way we'll start the season with Fitzsimmons as backup. I reckon we'll sign an experienced keeper, probably aged 30+ and on a much smaller wage than Lonergan was on. Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) To the doom and gloom merchants - this proves Anything Is Possible There's a difference between doom and gloom and just being realistic to the position we find ourselves in. I think I'm in the latter....just. Edited June 18, 2015 by Mounts Kipper Quote

DomRepWanderer Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Oi pal give it a rest, since Maximus left it's all we've got to cling onto. Quote
BOWTUN BAKED Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) Correct me if I'm wrong but he's never played a single minute of league football. Fine on the bench once the season is essentially over. Remind me again how old was Jussi when he made his debut off the bench as a back up? We are where we are, Fitzsimmons is fine on the bench, I'd rather spend the wages in other area's & bring in a short term loan if need be, IF, or when needed. That Swindon away game when Jussi replaced Branagan still leaves its mental scare, if any of us gave up on him then we'd have lost out on the great keeper we had for nearly a decade. Edit: last season was a disgusting waste of money on keepers, Kenny was unnecessary & a complete waste of limited resources, Amos was a rare example of circumstances that may be proven necessary if he becomes our new first choice. 5 Fookin' keepers in a season! Thank God you're not running the show either! Think about it. Edited June 18, 2015 by BOWTUN BAKED Quote
