Agree with both of you on this, it's why he needs at least another season imo. He has the potential to be worth it but needs to do it over a longer period

He's played twice as many 1st team games as Clough, and at every level for Engkand from U16 to U19.

Plus it was big spending Man City paying. So no relevance to a potential fee for Clough whatsoever.

I imagine a few will be in for Vela and Clough, maybe even Walker and Mavies if they start well, that's what happens when a team publicly admits there's financial constraints.

£5m at least for Vela and £8m for Clough and we'll be waving bye. I'd be gutted but you can't argue with that, anything less and they all need sacking.

Two players with boundless potential, they could both play for England one day and we all know that commands a premium. If that Roberts goes for that much we will have royally fucked up if we don't get their worth.

Saying that I do hope they stay for at least a couple of years because we could genuinely be in the Prem if they can realise that potential with us.

We tend to sell when we're publicly desperate for cash. Other clubs know they don't need to offer us full market value, or anything like. Another sign of how the club is run. But we'll see what happens.

Vela is every inch as effective as Clough. Perhaps not as exciting but certainly I'd be just as gutted to see Vela go, perhaps more.

I imagine things are on a fairly even keel right now in terms of playing staff budget. If we sell, it will be because Lennon wants to sell and sees the money as a way of strengthening. I don't think we are in 'fire sale' territory just now.

I wouldn't. In this division you need goalscorers - so having Clough in the side would get us more points over the course of the season than having Vela in it.

He will only fade away if he gets injuries, he's top class. Nothing more needs saying. Vela will be ok a steady pro different class to ZC.

Vela has the potential to be a Michael Carrick/Garry Barry type player, nowt exciting but very much vital to a teams long term success.

 

Clough has the potential to be an idividual matchwinner and crowd pleaser

Superb is a stretch for his passing range. Let's see him for a season in midfield first.

 

Clough has demonstrated all the talent already. It's whether he can handle the physical battle and keep his head down.

 

But in terms of being a superstar likely that neither will make that level, simply because odds are always against that. If one does it wont be Vela.....
